:siren: Images have been resized! :siren:
This last weekend I went to the Los Angeles ScienCenter, mainly the Air & Space Muesum. Had a lot of fun, learned (then totally forgot) a lot of science and history, and took a ton of photos.
This way to science!

At the science center I found cutting edge technology, like

CRT Monitors!

Squiggly tubes!

Wooden Ships!

And of course, guys riding elephants. Who could leave that out?
Upon entering the Air & Space building, I was greeted by good 'ole Sputnik.

Along with some more friendly satellites such as the Hubble telescope,

Various satellites launched into space,

And I'm not quite sure what this is, but it oddly reminds me of the Death Star.

Then I proceeded to take a look at some of the rockets that brought those satellites to space.

(Sorry about the photo defect here).
And then I took a look at the rocket engines that brought those rockets that brought those satellites to space.

Moving on to Apollo's shit.

And some shitty 5th grader projects.

Then, I found some Jets and Airplanes, my favorite. And oddly a lot of F-20's.

Do a barrel roll!

And some Engine Dissections.

And the only helicopter I saw in the entire building.

And that's about it. Other than this huge panorama of a SR-71 Blackbird I took.
Apologies for my shitty camera.
Here, have some background info.
The California Science Center (sometimes spelled California ScienCenter) is a state agency and museum located in Exposition Park, Los Angeles. Billed as the West Coast's largest hands-on science center, the California ScienCenter is a public-private partnership between the State and the California Science Center Foundation.
Formerly known as the California Museum of Science and Industry, the Museum was remodeled in 1998 as the California Science Center. Currently it consists of the IMAX Theater, the Sketch Foundation Gallery - Air and Space Exhibits (formerly Aerospace Hall) and the Science Center itself - including the March 2010 opening of the Ecosystems exhibition wing.
The California Science Center hosts the California State Science Fair annually.
Once decomissioning of the orbiter is complete, the center will receive the Space Shuttle Endeavour.
And a list of things that were on display -

Resize these a little bit please. If you took them down by 50% they would nearly fit on my screen.
Isn't this just an image dump with captions?
You didn't take any pictures of the rose garden?
we need to get into space.
now.
I love the LA Sciencenter! Haven't been there in a few years but I remember seeing the show on nerve endings or something with the red haired scientist.

Is there any way to automatically resize a mass amount of images? Because the shitty laptop I'm on can barely load them up, let alone edit them. Otherwise using control + scrollwheel to zoom out will have to do.
You didn't take any pictures of the rose garden?
Nope. I have horrible allergies, and that on top of being a windy day made me avoid it altogether.
we need to get into space.

Gotta see it all!

Last time I went there they had a bunch of Star Wars themed stuff. This time it was 1001 Muslim Inventions.
These pictures are way to big. I can't tell what's going on in most of them because they are too big.
Thanks for the 5MP pictures. You know you could've resized them and put some effort into your post.
here's the op with img_thumb tags instead:

to replace the current one until you resize the images i guess if you want
Image thumbs don't work anymore :saddowns:
And like I said, I can't resize them myself. My laptop is so crap it crashes when it tries. So if anybody else wants to do it, that'd be awesome.

WTF are you using to resize pictures? I have pentium 2s that'll do that for you
Oh yeah, thumbs are broken. Do'h.
These pictures are way to big. I can't tell what's going on in most of them because they are too big.
ctrl + scroll wheel will fix that for you

Hold on, I'll try to batch resize everything and reupload. (I'm new to Linux, so this may take a few moments).
reminds me when i went to the national museum of the air force in dayton.
they had a silo of around 7 REAL satellite and human rockets, fully constructed and standing upright.

they have 300 total aircraft on display. from a wright brothers commercial aircraft to a blackbird

Resized all the images to around 800x600. Everyone happy now?
Resized all the images to around 800x600. Everyone happy now?
Yes. Was that so hard?
Yes. Was that so hard?
It was, actually. I just started using Linux yesterday. I had to learn a little bit of the syntax for Shell Scripts, install magic image picker via shell scripts, figure out the commands for magic image picker, then struggle with the cd command in shell because I'm used to DOS' cd commands, and then repeatingly try to resize everything at once with magic image picker before it finally worked after waiting fifteen or so minutes, then I had to rename everything again because it named everything whitejet-1.JPG, whitejet-2.JPG, etc, and then I had to reupload everything and edit the OP.
On a side note, although it renamed everything poorly, I'm quite pleased with the resizing itself Magic Image Picker did. I just set it to 800x600, but it actually kept the aspect ratios.

been there too.
the air force museum is WAYYYYY better and bigger
Who's the lady? :q:
What he isn't telling you is that on a biyearly basis, each museum chooses a staff member to represent said museum in mortal combat in the Coliseum. I believe it has something to do with the solstice.
The MoS Boston seems cooler than this. They have an exhibit where you can smell animal feces.

I can now finally say to my school that that shit belongs in the museum.
"West Coast's largest science center"? Fuck that, OMSI is way better than this shit.
What he isn't telling you is that on a biyearly basis, each museum chooses a staff member to represent said museum in mortal combat in the Coliseum. I believe it has something to do with the solstice.
For science, of course.
"West Coast's largest science center"? Fuck that, OMSI is way better than this shit.
Most of what I took photos of is from the Air & Space building, there are other buildings chocked full of cool stuff.
:science: FTW!

You mean those little girls? You sick bastard.
What's the elephant thing?
I used to go there quite often when i was younger, it is still an awesome place though. You should have mentioned the IMAX theater.
No Pictures of TESS?

The elephant thing was a part of this 1,001 Muslim inventions thing they had going on. I didn't spend much time there.
For a moment there, I thought it was LA ScientologyCenter.
