I have never been much of a GG fan, but I can certainly see the appeal. And his live shows looked like a hell of a time.
Heh, I just read about an artist who was heavily influenced by GG Allin, The Emotron. (He's also influenced a lot by Atom And His Package, so it doesn't sound very much like GG Allin :v:)
According to wikipedia "He enjoys vomiting and defecating into plastic bags and has given his vomit and feces to others."
He seems fucking crazy.

Yup, fucking crazy.
He makes some cool music, though.

And OP was a good read, he sounds like an interesting individual.
GG Allin is a weird mix of amazingly fucked up and awesome, as transgressive art tends to be. I find him admirable in his incredible dedication and clarity in what he thought his life was about, but can't help being repulsed by some of the stuff he did...
I don't get what about him is awesome
he's an interesting psych case but other than that I can't think of anything interesting about him

It's kinda fun to watch, but he's just embarrassing himself in that clip
I never knew much about GG allin, but now I do.
Very interesting read and I like the personal thoughts about him, he seems like a guy I should listen more to/read more about.
Thanks Gurant, a great read! And yeah it feels really good to be able to write down your feelings, it puts a pretty good perspective on why you feel the way you feel.

I laughed that he had to balls to call himself God in front of an audience probably filled with Christian conservatives
lol christians at a jerry springer show
Very nice read Gurant, rated you Informative! I'll re-enter the thread so I can rate you Heart too :)
IMHO all I can think of when the name GG Allin comes up is "Meh"... I fail to see what's so appealing about him... I guess I can't feel any kind of empathy for a guy who used to smear shit all over his face, just to make a statement -one that I still can't even grasp-.
But, of course, this is just my opinion.
The Club Kids are more interesting IMO.
Did you ever get that tattoo done, that I drew for you? (on my old account, LedZeppelin)

Hey if I wanted to start on GG Allin, where would you recommend?

Dirty Love Songs is a pretty good album to start with.
Isn't this the guy that does weird shit on stage like cutting himself and actually shitting?
Holy shit...

A guy in class had a powerpoint presentation.
Seemed liked a witty guy. A bit too extreme for me though.
Tell him I said hi
