This is pretty horrifying actually. It explains why the ceremony was closed casket. As grim as this is, and how moving a ceremony it was today, there is a bizarre irony I couldn't help but point out. He played the Scarecrow in The Wiz. The Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz didn't have a brain either.
