Anathema are one of the coolest bands on the air today. They're honestly fucking brilliant and actually fairly deep sometimes unlike most bands you see around the place. They're english, and are pretty well known for helping to develop the doom metal style in their earlier years, before moving away into some pretty nice and melodic atmospheric rock, even going into acoustic. Although the earlier attempts at softer stuff were to me plagued by bad vocals, they've really filled out in the last few years and FP should totally have a look at them.
In 2003, Anathema released A Natural Disaster to general acclaim, and then took a 7 year break in which they released Hindsight, a compilation of more acoustic and soft versions of previous tracks. In May 2010, they released We're Here Because We're Here, which is honestly the best album I've heard this year insofar. To top it off, We're Here Because We're Here was mixed by STEVE WILSON. Fuck yeah.
