A month before Donald Trump clinched the Republican nomination, one of his closest allies in Congress — House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy - made a politically explosive assertion in a private conversation on Capitol Hill with his fellow GOP leaders: that Trump could be the beneficiary of payments from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"There’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump," McCarthy (R-Calif.) said, according to a recording of the June 15, 2016 exchange, which was listened to and verified by The Washington Post. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher is a Californian Republican known in Congress as a fervent defender of Putin and Russia.
House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) immediately interjected, stopping the conversation from further exploring McCarthy’s assertion, and swore the Republicans present to secrecy.
[...]
Ryan instructed his Republican lieutenants to keep the conversation private, saying: "No leaks...This is how we know we’re a real family here."
The remarks remained secret for nearly a year.

I thought for a second that what he said was a joke but then he said "Swear to God." Jesus Christ.
I'm hoping this is based on nothing but stupidity. I can understand Trump maybe working way too closely with the Russians, but him being on their payrole... that'd fuck everything up.
...Holy shit.
Holy shit is right. If the crooked parties in the GOP outside of Trumps' goons also get implicated in this, Trump winning the election actually might have helped some, as long as others are able to smooth over the cracks in the long run.
So Republican leadership knew Trump might be compromised and gambled on him anyway for political gain?
:goodjob:
If true, would this mean Paul Ryan was aiding and abetting? Evidently he knew of the Russia ties for a whole year now but kept helping Trump and never spoke out.

At this point, nothing surprises me anymore.
This is actually a pretty plausible explanation for Trump's odd affinity for Putin and complete refusal to criticize him whatsoever.

This whole fucking thing is so blatant that you really do wonder how deep it goes. If the FBI came back and said hey, half the GOP is under arrest, I kind of wouldn't be surprised.
Hey look a leak, and the sources aren't anonymous! Sgman1 will be ecstatic.
Every single person who has played a role in this treason needs to be properly charged and sentenced, Ryan included.
This makes Watergate look like a practice run. The entire upper echelon of the GOP appears to be involved in this. Boys, we may in the midst of watching the single most significant act of political treachery in our country's history be laid bare for all to see.
man it's gotta be hard for trump when even you most loyal stooges talk about how you are a putin lapdog
guess this eroded even more trust between trump and the republicans

Hahahahahahaha.
Burn them all down.

List of people who are genuinely surprised at this level of collusion:
Thinking more about it, why does this tape exist? Who was recording it? Where did it come from?

That probably won't happen but one can hope.
Trump is the GOP's masterpiece of bullshit.
Trump being on Putin's payroll would be another reason why he doesn't want to release his tax returns.

But I was told the DNC were the corrupt megamasterminds of the US globalist NWO elite? Are you telling me that the brave men (fuck off do we want women in here) of the GOP are actually more corrupt? Liar. Zionist shill. I bet you don't even think Merkel is up to anything bad huh??!?
Compared to anything, anything the Repblicans were trying to blame the Democrats for in the electoral campaigns, the juicy shit we've had coming out for the last few weeks now has been significantly worse even at it's lightest. Oh shit the DNC likely funded their preferred candidate more (despite being under no real obligation to fund others, as unfair as it is)? Nothing, absolutely nothing, in comparison to a Republican candidate likely being funded by a foreign power, and positively minuscule in comparison to the rest of the party being concerned about such a thing and doing nothing about it.
A vast, vast majority of the end of Trumps presidential campaign was quite clearly an attempt to stop people digging too far into his ties because it'd ruin him. Now that there's no distractions (after all, Clinton has mostly slunk back into the shadows) people are finding all kinds of shit out with minimal effort and the dumb bastard is just confirming it over Twitter constantly.
Really puts the whole "Russia almost certainly hacked the DNC email server" stuff into a more reasonable and plausible light if this pans out.

FYI they are now playing it off as a joke. Just like Trump when he ordered Comey to abandon the investigation. I guess the ultimate Republican defense for being caught betraying your entire country is, "ha ha it was just a prank pro don't be so PC."

God knows my natural response to a funny joke is to order complete silence.
"Great joke, man! Ha! ... This never leaves this room. Ever. No leaks. We are family. Don't ever betray your family."

Annoyingly you can't even list Trump supporters in that list because none of them are surprised about it. They're going to actively ignore it.
I genuinely would like the more level headed supporters on here (I fucking wish I could name names to make it easier, not to call them out or anything) would just show themselves in these threads and just try to justify their continued support for Trump. Especially those who supported him for things like "supporting nuclear power" and the likes when he barely even paid that lip service and has done nothing towards it since entering the White House.

Impeach Paul Ryan for being bad at jokes
The White House previously booked a Fox News interview with Kellyanne Conway, and then abruptly cancelled it at the last minute.

Life comes at you fast.
Ryan: ... people have said that they have Ukraine fatigue, and it's really Russian fatigue because what Russia is doing is doing to us, financing our populists, financing people in our governments to undo our governments, you know
He knew. He fucking knew the entire time.
