I wonder what chemicals were involved? That's far away and it's huge.
Not again. This is so bad.
shit if this is connected to pipelines it could be really bad
Hope its not another case of the private sector failing to regulate itself. Like some moron boss decided to turn his plant into a timebomb to save money.
Wasn't there a chemical plant explosion in Texas recently too?
Wasn't there a chemical plant explosion in Texas recently too?
Shit happens if you're not careful and cut corners.
rip in pieces
The explosion occurred at 8:37am local time, Williams said in a media release on Thursday. Emergency responders were notified and shut-down valves were closed after the explosion, isolating the unit, according to the release.
The way they dealt with the explosion was pretty great. I would bet that poor inspecting and lack of regulation caused this. The south seems to have a problem with that.
Probably a drone strike!
Seriously? The fertilizer plant in Texas and now this Chemical plant in Louisiana?? You think management at the Plant would have seen the news from Texas and been like "Oh snap, well we work with potentially explosive chemicals, perhaps we should crack down on regulations and inspections to avoid that happening here."

We don't know what caused this to happen.
You're making assumptions. We don't know what caused this to happen.
Are you kidding me? It definitely wasn't God or Aliens, so that means... Security (attack) Faulty Equipment (leak) Mistake/Accident (Oops!) All (well, most. Accidents DO happen) can be prevented. I'm just saying, you think someone would have considered the fallout and made corrections after the explosion in Texas, which was pretty big news. Edit: At least so far, we've only had 1 death and the rest injured. Sad to lose that one guy, but it's better than all ~74 who were hurt.
