Last week, Kelly said police, garbage pickup and other services has cost the city $25,000. Protester John Thibeau says he'd like to see the numbers. "If that's the case, then we'll start doing things to address to help reduce that number. There are a lot of homeless people who aren't paying income tax down here, but there are just as many people who are," Thibeau said. About 50 protesters were on their hands and knees Sunday scrubbing Grand Parade. "If we can help to reduce that, that's just what we're fighting for: less energy consumption, more environmentalists thinking things that can be done more naturally and doing it that way." Protesters are preparing to temporarily relocate Tuesday to Victoria Park because of memorial ceremonies happening later this week.[/release] (For Americans: Remembrance Day is like Veteran's Day, but in Commonwealth countries) See what happens when we use our words instead of our tear gas...
For every protester that will move, there's about 100 who refuse, don't get too optimistic.
For every protester that will move, there's about 100 who refuse, don't get too optimistic.
I hope you cleaned that before you posted it, since it came out of your ass Nova Scotia is famous in Canada for being probably the most polite province
For every protester that will move, there's about 100 who refuse, don't get too optimistic.
THEN you bring out the tear gas. Does Canada even have tear gas?
THEN you bring out the tear gas.
No, then you don't bring out the tear gas because that is a horrible idea.
So no tear gas? Does Canada even have tear gas?
No, eh We have maple syrup bombs delivered on dogsleds, eh
I hope you cleaned that before you posted it, since it came out of your ass Nova Scotia is famous in Canada for being probably the most polite province
Key words here being 'in Canada'. Not being Canadian myself, this was up until now an unknown fact for me.
Hey cool, I'm about 5 minutes walking distance from downtown Halifax. Never heard about this until now.
THEN you bring out the tear gas. [editline]7th November 2011[/editline] So no tear gas? Does Canada even have tear gas?
The cops just launch weed bombs into the crowd so that everyone is chill and passive, and then they all just get along and have a big party.
Key words here being 'in Canada'.
Then again, this is the city that had a riot over a hockey final only months ago so you can't blame them entirely.
Hockey riots are Canadian tradition. They're very important, since soccer isn't all that huge here so we can't riot over it like everyone else. When forests catch fire they grow back even more lush so it's just basic science that the same applies to cities
I was in Downtown Halifax this morning and it's looking better already. good to see that they're being smart about this. I also read that when they return they're going to try and take up less space to give Grand Parade back to the public.
For every protester that will move, there's about 100 who refuse, don't get too optimistic.
I'd be surprised if there was 100 people camping out there, to be completely honest. As well, it's been stated by Occupy NS that anyone who stays shouldn't be considered as part of Occupy.
Politeness out the ass.
Guys, this is the best case scenario. I doubt Occupy movements will do the same.
-snip-
I walk past Occupy Bristol every day on the way into University. Essentially, tents and people having cups of tea.
I walked by Occupy Halifax the day it started, was just down there yesterday. They seem to be really nice people, and they have loads of respect for others. (Lots of Halifax FP'ers here. FP Halifax Christmas Meetup?)
No, eh We have maple syrup bombs delivered on dogsleds, eh
Ah shoot, can cause a smidge of a problem there, eh?
Nova Scotia is famous in Canada for being probably the most polite province
I've heard it was Newfoundland, but that might just be because I live there.... either way we're all pretty damn nice The occupy movement here is really small though. I'm not even sure if we have an encampment yet, I don't make it down town too often and I get all my news from facepunch.

Good to see the protesters doing this, glad to see they still have respect for the veterans.
