In the first episode of Downton Abbey, the Countess of Grantham, played by Maggie Smith, complains about the newfangled electrical chandelier installed in her family's 1915 estate. "Oh, dear, such a glare," she says, shielding her eyes with a fan.
The countess may have a point.
Too much artificial light at the wrong time can change sleep patterns and make us groggy in the mornings, scientists report Thursday in the journal Current Biology.

To be fair, the quote you chose is just about useless when trying to figure out what you're about to read.
I hope for everyone's eyes' sake that you all know about f.lux
http://justgetflux.com/
it's very helpful
Just installed flux, holy shit I feel like my eyes just crawled into a super comfy sleeping bag.
"You could start your day with a morning walk. Raise the shades in the house. Or if you read the newspaper, do it outside."
the fuck is this? the dark ages? my iphone doesn't have an app for 2/3 of these things
Outside is scary I'd rather stay inside my mom's basement.

Oh my god that's so useful. Thank you so much, I think you just answered part of my sleeping issue.
Now, time to stop that damned leak and I'll be good.

I added in a sentence that helps a bit.

You haven't programmed your shades to open and close from your iPhone with Bluetooth? Get with the times.
Flux is really weird when you first start using it but you adjust. Been using it for a few weeks though and I can barely even tell how orange it is actually making the screen at night.

Once you get used to using it, a screen without it will feel like you're staring at the sun though. I can barely stand working on my friends' computers anymore because of that. :v:
what the fuck what is this flux shit and why am i sleepy

It's not useless though? It's just f.lux: glasses edition.
Sure, it's a bit silly with the branding all over it and how they say it'll make you MLG 360pro at video games, but it's not useless.

Flux is an amazing program, so simple but efficient

For its price tag and the fact that flu.x is free. Its pretty useless.

My God, it's been running for 15 minutes and I feel better already.
I think f.lux just single-handedly kicked the article's ass.

What about for console gaming? Or for somebody who uses other people's computers a lot.
What about for console gaming? Or for somebody who uses other people's computers a lot.
Maybe for somebody who uses other's computers but this glasses dont work with console gaming. Unless they're the type who uses their monitors for consoles too that is. The lenses are set to focus at 3ft.
You can't really change your circadian rhythm. Maybe you will cope better with early mornings for some time, but you will fall back into your ordinary sleeping pattern after a few weeks.

I installed this. It's night. I see the screen change but I'm not feeling immediate benefits like some posts seem to make it out like. Is this something that you have to get used to/will benefit you in the long run?

I just installed it as well, and I gotta say my eyes don't hurt as much. Try looking away from the computer screen or something
I can be a morning person. All I have to do is not go to bed.

I just installed it, and that pained, aching feeling at the back of my eyes just kinda melted away. You'll definitely get benefits from this in the long run.
