I was wondering what is facepunch's views on abortion?
Oh god, this thread again.
In a study from the 90's, legalized abortion led to a BIG crime drop...I support it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hl4b46f0Yq8
I think it should be used as a last resort. But it should also be legal because women will always get abortions, legal or no, so if it's legal, at least it can be done safely.
I personally find it to be cruel, but sometimes the parents simply don't have any other choices, Hence it should be kept.
Its okay.
If they really don't want the kid, then just give birth and leave the baby up for adoption, no need to kill it.
If the parents are unable to financially support a child, don't want the child or wouldn't be able to give it a good life I think that abortion should be available for them to consider.
A woman can do it if she wants to, no reason to keep her from stopping her own babies.
I believe that if a woman is raped then she should be allowed to have an abortion, i know i wouldn't want my 11 yr old daughter going through child birth when it's not her fault. But if it's just another tramp who didn't use protection then she shouldn't have that option, but of course we can't determine whether or not she was raped.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roe_v_wade All females that are of age of consent should have the right to decide whether or not to give birth in a given time period. Enough said.
If they really don't want the kid, then just give birth and leave the baby up for adoption, no need to kill it.
I don't think you understand the emotional and physical pain a women have to go through for that. Not only so, there are other conditions to it as well. What if the girl was raped? Would you still want to give birth to the child? What if the girl is still considered as a youth? Do you want to see a child ruining the rest of her life?
If they really don't want the kid, then just give birth and leave the baby up for adoption, no need to kill it.
Do you know how bad pregnancy/birth can ruin a woman? I would rather get rid of it in early stages
Why is there no option completely favoring abortion?

Under circumstances. Under a certain month, unless rape or poor family, or if the baby will kill the parent in the birthing process.
Just like a seed is not a tree an embro is not a human or I can go by what I heard on /b/ "if you cant have intercourse with it it aint human"
I would say "Just because 2 people don't want some one does that mean they deserve to die?" but I also don't want to decide for half the planet
I would say "Just because 2 people don't want some one does that mean they deserve to die?"
what
It should be ultimately the woman's decision.
And just to put out there, it is a very gray issue when it comes to the 'humanity' of a fetus in whatever trimester.
I don't see the correlation, can you explain please?
No abortion led to women giving birth to children that they dont want, they mistreated them and later on the children became involved in criminal activity, thus increasing Crime Rates...legalization of that made that stop for the new generations of children. Did that make sense?
I'm sure growing up as some poor orphan then turning to a life of crime and drugs is better than not existing.
Only in the first, maybe second trimester of pregnancy.
Do you know how bad pregnancy/birth can ruin a woman? I would rather get rid of it in early stages
Abortion has it's own problems too. It can mess some people up really badly down there.
I don't support it. This might stem from the fact that I was a poster child for abortion. My parents were both fresh recruits in the Air Force, and I was born when they were only 19. They both had severed nearly all ties from their parents and were pretty much on their own. They also lived in Alaska at the time. Considering that I am now attending a University for Computer Science as well as being in the honors program, it went a lot better than expected. Sure, there was a lot of hardship for everyone involved, but you never know how a baby can turn out.
And just to put out there, it is a very gray issue when it comes to the 'humanity' of a fetus in whatever trimester.
I can see your coming very strongly through the reasoning of the U.S. Supreme Court. The trimester system has been dropped to this day if i remember correctly.
The issue with abortion is that people are likely to undergo a riskier process if it was illegal. Legality provides safe measures for these people who would have an abortion regardless of the legal circumstances. I strongly disagree with abortion, but acknowledge the need for its legality. With that said, the whole "a woman has a right to her body" is idiotic. It isn't a woman's right issue. I believe the father should legally have an equal say in abortion as the mother (of course omitting rape or anything similar). Much of the abortion arguments revolve too much around semantics and trying to define the undefinable, such as when to consider a growing offspring to be a human. Getting too much into those kind of arguments seriously detracts from what the real arguments should be about.
