OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The California radio preacher who predicted the apocalypse on May 21 has been moved to a nursing home, where he is recovering from a stroke he suffered last month.
Harold Camping's daughter confirms her father recently moved from an area hospital to a skilled nursing facility. He is undergoing rehabilitation there to regain his strength following the June 9 stroke.
Camping's Family Radio network is working to replace the 89-year-old's show, Open Forum, with interim programming. The station has been playing repeats since his stroke.
It's unclear if the show will return.
Camping predicted Judgment Day would occur, first in 1994 and again in May. His media empire spent millions of dollars, some culled from followers' donations, over seven years on billboards and other publicity for his 2011 predictions about the spiritual Rapture in May and the end of the world in October.

Deserved it.
Did he ever comment on the failed Rapture?

He said it'll happen on another date.
HAHAHAAA.
That's sad.
The whole "rapture" idea was plenty to indicate that this man wasn't in his prime. Now it just turns out his body is as fucked as his mind.
As dumb as it was, and as silly as his followers were, the fact that he had a stroke and is now in a nursing home isn't funny, it's actually quite fucking sad.
poor bastard.
I feel kinda sorry for him.

He ended up going into hiding as soon as he realized it failed.

Sure, all those things make you feel sorry for him. But I don't really feel much for a guy who fucked over loads of dumb supporters. I remember some people ended up homeless because they donated their whole life savings towards this and quit their jobs. Because of this, I really don't feel much for him at all, even if that does sound pretty fucked up to some.
So what happaned to all the people who wanted their money back? It's fucking terrible he can't be arrested for scamming due to "religious purposes"
Well, now he has all the time in the world to stew up more rapture dates.
Even God didn't find it funny and gave him a stroke :downs:
I like how this guy is considered an idiot for believing that the rapture would happen but the idiots who sold all belongings to donate to him you pity.

I don't pity them.

Was more aimed at this

They're all idiots. I only pity the ones who lost something because of following him (and I don't pity them a whole lot).
I pity the families and children of the idiots who donated their entire savings/sold their houses.
I don't pity the people who made the conscious decision of "I'll give all my money in order to get in heaven, herp derp praise jezuz!"
I wouldn't mind if Harold Camping didn't completely recover.
That means he can finally stop ruining the lives of thousands of people.
We had someone jump off of a bridge out here because of him - and kill themselves.
I know there were reports of some suicides here and there through the country as well...
Honestly, I wish he could have been held criminally responsible for causing the panic that some of these people endured. Did they lack common sense...sure...but if he had not went through all of this effort to spread a lie they would not have done something so drastic.
Now he can tell his Friday night bridge players about how the world will end.
Well, I'll be honest, I think he had it coming after driving those people to suicide.

Karma.
Did he at least predict his own stroke
Finally, he's like, 90 now.
Told this to mom and she said "well, he did predict the end of the world: his".
Look what you've done now Christianity.

you're so ridiculously dumb and ignorant
this is one crazy cook that isn't affiliated with Christianity at all, it was the preaching of a crazy almost cult like leader, if you believe this had to even do anything with Christianity in the bible it says you cannot even predict the end of the world since no one knows when it will happen.
Could have done the "get out of jail free" card for christians
"God said he was so pleased with the people who believed him, that he let everyone live"

Going even further then that, In the book of revelations, it is prophecized that many will come claiming they know when the world's going to end, even claiming that they themselves are the second coming. It says basically, don't listen to these idiots, they'll just ruin your life, and will end up driving more people away from God then to him.
File Mr. Camping under that. He's just another dude that'll end up dragging other people down with him into despair and madness. It's really quite sad.
The only real way to approach an end-of-the-world scenario, is to simply live your life without regret, and not to get depressed, but to be mentally prepared so that if some sort of big cataclysm does occur, that you won't go off the deep end.

But if Christianity never existed then stupid things like this would be so much less frequent. Millions are dead because of Christianity, you can't deny that.
