If a British tabloid is to be believed, things are not going smoothly for the folks tasked with reviving the BBC's Top Gear—so much so, apparently, that recently-appointed replacement host Chris Evans has threatened to quit before the show even goes on air. That's the word from The Mirror, at least, which quotes unnamed inside sources claiming that Evans is frustrated and fed up with the constant meddling of BBC executives and higher-ups. "He was working his behind off and just didn't feel the love coming back from certain BBC executives," the unnamed source tells The Mirror. "They were constantly on the case—and getting involved with production issues [....] Things got so bad that he made his feelings very clear. It was more or less a 'butt out or I'm out' situation."
Worth noting:
It's hard to say how much trust should be put into this report—a British tabloid quoting an unnamed "insider" spilling juicy gossip about a tumultuous TV show isn't exactly New York Times-level sourcing.
Source
i've never seen so many rumors in so little time about a TV show. The rumor density astounds me.
if its true I'd post a witty pic of a trainwreck but that doesn't need to be said about this for the millionth time. but ummm what a trainwreck
It doesn't surprise me if this were true, I don't think most people are holding high hopes for the new TG without the clarckson, jeremy, hammond. The show was always more about their silliness than the cars they reviewed, at least for me.
well BBC you gon fucked up one of you're most viewed shows better hope the new Doc Who writter can come with good epsiodes or els all you will have is the news
"If a British tabloid is to be believed" About Top Gear? Nope. The British tabloids are one step away from claiming Roswell Greys will be the new hosts at this point.

They should just scrap what they got and have Ricky Gervais, Steven Merchant, and Karl Pilkington be the hosts. They are already a well known trio, and the program isn't really about cars anymore, and more about 3 friends being idiots.

Top Gear will never be as popular as it was when Clarkson, Hammond and May were hosting it. Their synergy is great and I don't think any TV host group can ever beat them.
I can see Karl Pilkington being made to drive all the shitty, underpowered or dangerous cars and used as a living test dummy by Gervais and Merchant.
I'm sure he would love to be in a Reliant Robin every show.
Watch for Top Gear Return for Sabine
I'd really like the new trio to at least be somewhat competent with cars even if they end up about as entertaining as a fart in the wind because at some point they'll be interviewing the old trio or in some sense at least I hope they get interviewed just for banter about which one can score highest in the "reasonably priced car".
Please do quit
We have EastEnders, I think we're fine, mate. literally the bbc's cash cow for the last 30 years
Never been able to work that out mind. Christmas time at the Eastenders production office: 1: "Hey, it's nearly Christmas, better get that special written up I guess...what should we do this year?" 2: "Uhhh...house fire?" 1: "nah, did that last year" 2: "oh yeah...pub explosion?" 1: "come on man, we do that one every other year, it's gotta be fresh this time" 3: "g-guys? how about we...kill Phil?" 1/2: "FUCKING GENIUS MATE WE CAN EVEN BRING HIM BACK AGAIN NEXT CHRISTMAS" 1: "pub?"
I love the fact that if he is threatening he's acting like anyone would generally give a shit if he quit.
