Ok, so today I went into my town to buy the new Batman game, and rushed back to the bus station trying to catch the soonest bus, instead i missed it and was there for nearly half an hour and near ish the end, an old lady sat on the bench a few seats from me start like slipping of her chair while her arms looked kind of locked, at first i stared a little and realised somthing was wrong, i looked around and other people were doing the same.. kind of. i walked quickly over to her but then some security, i think it was, pushed me out the way and checked her pulse i wanted to help but with them there they probably knew more than me, and while they were doing that i took another glance around and i saw people actualy looking at her and laughing. And not one other person (oh sorry there was another guy in his twentys) that came over they just looked, some of them laughed and then continued to mindlessly stare at the parking lot for their buses. now i knew people were shallow but this? this was somthing else. Out of a room filled with roughly 60 people 2 of use walked over. And right now all i keep going over in my head is that i should have got up straight away, and can't keep myself from knowing that those other people probably wouldnt have even considered it.
Humanity is fucked up, we've known this forever.

It's probably the social bystander effect which inhibits a person when in a group from supporting another, even in the event of death. The majority will be frozen and won't even call for emergency services. However, some may, or an individual, will support or call for additional support.

Actually, people don't just laugh because something is funny. They laugh to communicate with each other, so they clearly were not laughing at the old lady.
