Bandai is to bring back Tamagotchi - the digitised pet you used to keep in your pocket - in the form of an app for iPhone and Android.
Coming soon to iTunes and Google Play, Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. (Love is fun everywhere) is an updated version of the original, in which you had to feed and keep a virtual pet amused as it went from the start of its life to its eventual demise. If Pocket-lint's old Tamagotchis are anything to go by, that won't be long. It's amazing what a glass of water can do to technology.
Hell yes.
I had one of those fuckers.
Woke me up in the middle of the night to complain that it was hungry, and then it went and fucking died.

Now I can starve my Tamagotchi while calling a friend!

Mine once died with like 3 stacks of shit and 1 sickness. I was depressed for days.
It won't be the same without the physical unit.
I remember trying to break the back open and get to that fabled second battery/grey button
could never find a screwdriver small enough, though
i remember twirling mine around my finger and accidentally smacking it against the wall, breaking it
literally killed my tamogotchi
The youngest people to remember these must be adults by now.
The only thing I remember about Tamagotchi.

What kind of bastardized Samsung-Apple baby is this?
These were the shit.
But aren't there a million variants of these things already? I'd be surprised if there wasn't.
About damn time!
There already an app that's similar it's called "my little bastard" :v:
We used to bring these to school, but then they got banned so I had to leave them to die every day when I went to school.
this is gunna look soo good on my galaxy note II
I'm really hoping it's a pay once app thing. It would fucking suck if they just mutilated it with in app transactions.
Also fuck yeah tomagotchis.
Never had one. I guess this could be interesting to try.
I had a Giga-pet :(
I saw these at the store once, All of those little tags were pulled out and every single one was dead.
I saw them all the damn time on tv. Always wanted one. Might try this app out.
This makes me want to find mine. Too bad the batteries were annoying to buy.
I had like 5 of these fuckers, but I lost 3 and the other 2 I left in my pocket and they went in the washer.
The only thing I remember about these things is people getting in trouble for playing with them during 2nd grade.

I had exactly the same model as in the picture. And another one that was freaking awesome. You could pick different pets, play basketball, fight with other animals and other stuff. Not sure if it was one of those clones, or a newer version.
I had 2 of the original run, a red-black and a white-black.
Then I fell out of the loop until like 2 years ago saw one at Walgreens, v4?
Can't fucking wait to relive my childhood a bit without having to have an extra thing in my pocket!
If you're into pets and have an iPhone there's a really popular tamagotchi-like app for it, "Kawaii Pet MEGU"

I don't really know about this, it won't feel the same without the crappy LCD and little plastic egg device.
I wish they would bring back those Digimon Digivices. They were cooler than Tamagotchis
I hope it has a connect feature like late generation tomagotchis. You just click the connect button and the two animals will go on one screen. If you make them visit enough they could end up marrying each other.
Oh god yes. This is something I always wanted to jump to phones.
