Look at all the past Pixar films; they all had elements that appealed to every age and anyone could enjoy it. Toy story was NOT a kids movie. A man in his 70's could watch it and appreciate it, not just laugh at the childish jokes and call it cute. No, he could relate to it.
Meanwhile cars was marketed solely to kids and is a kid's movie. It's whole target audience was for kids, with all the lame stupid jokes included.

I disagree on how Cars was just a kid's movie.
If you listen to the documentarys in Mater's Tall Tales, it actually has a lot of really interesting facts about the development of Cars 1. Hopefully the sequel will be like that sort of thing like Cars 1, instead of just a bunch of bullshit spy stuff.

Up until they announced the sequel to Cars. I always thought it was a Dreamworks movie because of how meh it was.
