I like how Symantec advises them to make people register to upload images. It's their whole things. It's like advising Twitter to allow people to post more than 140 characters.
Except they can just use another image host.. Just ImageShack (an awful host may I add) doing this is barely going to put a dent in spam messages.

The only reason I like image hosts like imageshack is because I don't have to log in to use them.

I don't see the twitter analogy fitting in to this at all though.
the spammers will just branch out and use different, more obscure image hosting sites

I think its pretty clear that they only do this to get rid of the spammers using their service, its in their interest if they go elsewhere.

They now want you to register to get the direct link to your images. Its pretty easy to get around though.
the spammers will just branch out and use different, more obscure image hosting sites
Yup.
But that's their problem, not imageshacks anymore.

Almost all image hosting services require no registrations and there are plenty of image hostings out there that are way better than imageshack.
Uppix, cubeupload, imgur to name a few

Well... Time to start spamming!
[editline]15th February 2011[/editline]
Kidding.
I use my own host :smug:
But i'd have to admit, it's a pretty smart idea.
No way... You can edit posts now?

Last time I saw people using Cubeupload, it was literally always down. I never saw a single picture working with Cubeupload, and I've almost always seen them work with Imageshack.

I suppose he means that twitter was made for short messages, getting rid of the limit on character count would make it no different than other social sites.
