http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/06/19/AR2010061902931.html [release]BP chief executive Tony Hayward took a day off Saturday to see his 52-foot yacht "Bob" compete in a race off England's shore, a leisure trip that infuriated residents of the oil-stained Gulf Coast. Hayward had already angered many in the United States by suggesting that Americans would be particularly likely to file bogus claims for compensation from the spill. He later shocked Louisiana residents by saying no one wanted to resolve the crisis as badly as he did because "I'd like my life back." Ronnie Kennier, an oysterman from Empire, La., said the trip to the Isle of Wight showed once again that Hayward is out of touch with the financial and emotional suffering along the gulf. "He wanted to get his life back," Kennier said. "I guess he got it." As social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook lit up with anger, BP spokesman Robert Wine said the break is Hayward's first since the Deepwater Horizon rig BP was leasing exploded April 20. "He's spending a few hours with his family at a weekend," Wine said. "I'm sure that everyone would understand that."[/release] What kind of dumbass names their yacht Bob?
obama is white
oh hayward you cunt you
Bob sounds like a name you'd give to a hamster, and a very unimaginative name at that.
Most people don't even work weekends anyway, I don't see what the big deal is.
Most people don't even work weekends anyway, I don't see what the big deal is.
You'd think that he has more pressing issues at hand.
Big deal, he is taking a day off. It isn't like him taking a break for a day will cause any more problems. Hell, I don't even think he has much of a say in all of this anyways.
At least he didn't have a yacht race through the oil.
I... I hate to stick up for that slimebag but he HAS been under a lot of pressure recently. Sure he's a dipstick who's company fucked up EVERYTHING, but he is under a lot of stress and needs to relieve it somehow. It's been a while since this whole mess started and it's not like he's been taking time off all the time (to my knowledge anyway). I mean, you don't need to look for reasons to hate the asshole, all the ones you need are in plain sight.
Just to make sure you're all aware, the CEO of BP had nothing to do with the spill. He was on the other side of the planet at the time of the explosion. I'm willing to bet my freedom that the person who was actually responsible was either one of the ones who died in the explosion or some random safety inspector not affiliated with British Petroleum in any way.

You know, the leaked ones about cutting cost measures and keeping the damn rig afloat even though everyone knew it was a piece of shit.
You'd think that he has more pressing issues at hand.
yes he should be attending press conferences and meetings every minute of every day. what difference is it going to make? he took a weekend off to spend time with his son. there's really no reason why he shouldn't do that. in fact, i would have thought it's a good thing that he's managed to make time for his son in the middle of everything that's going on.
OH MY GOD! A person is taking A DAY OFF! CALL THE NATIONAL GUARD!
OH MY GOD! A person is taking A DAY OFF! CALL THE NATIONAL GUARD!
HOLY SHIT! That is not possible. We must SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING!

You know the media does whatever it can to make people look bad. Cutting costs probably means laid off a few dozen workers, and they have no power to keep the rig afloat if it doesn't pass inspection. I stand by my statement, he had nothing to do with it.
this is kinda stupid, people are freaking out that this guy isn't out in the gulf coast shore with a fuckin shovel 24/7.
He's definitely in the running for 'Troll of the Year' along with the Icelandic volcano and Robert Green; who dropped the ball in the England V. USA World Cup match.

We should throw garbage at his Yacht. Maybe it will stop it.
Wow he took a day off the night before Fathers Day. Clearly he needs to be crucified for it.
Force him to drink a cup of the oily scum. Then push him into it. After that, he should be aware of why everyone is upset.

So? It's not like he himself set the oil rig on fire.
If I were a CEO of an Oil Company that was responsible for one of the largest oil spills in history and it is still leaking I wouldn't really take such a day off.
Bob sounds like a name you'd give to a hamster, and a very unimaginative name at that.
My hamster was called bobbby
I... I hate to stick up for that slimebag but he HAS been under a lot of pressure recently. Sure he's a dipstick who's company fucked up EVERYTHING
Yeah because it's completely his fault that the rig collapsed on the ocean floor.
Is he directly involved in the clean up efforts? As in, personally scooping oil up with his hands? No, he's involved with coordination of clean up efforts and brokering compensation deals - hell he probably gets other people to do that for him. There's no sense in pillorying the man; no single individual is responsible for the disaster.
Not to defend that jerkoff, but as CEO he really doesn't have anything to do with the cleanup efforts. There are people under him whose job it is to manage that whole operation, so his involvement is pretty limited.
