Sony has sold 20.2 million PlayStation 4 videogame consoles, the company said Tuesday, making the device the fastest-selling PlayStation system in the company’s history. The March 1 figure is the latest sales update of the PS4 after Sony announced 18.5 million units in early January. The system, mpriced at $400, launched in November 2013. The PS4 has been one of the rare bright spots for Sony, with the console far outpacing PlayStation 3 sales and even those of the Xbox 360 from Microsoft.
I still feel a lot of these sales are blind brand loyalty rather than people buying it for the few exclusives.
How many people were thinking "This is the only system I can play Knack/Infamous on!" over "It's a PS4/lol fuck xbox!!!!" when buying one?
I mean jeeze the thought of buying a console pre-pricedrop when it has like 5 games makes me ECH
I hope there's a pricedrop soon but if not oh well.
I plan on getting one next month for Bloodborne and Mortal Kombat X the next month I've put off getting one for long enough but things are starting to shape up pretty nicely

I don't think you realize that people buy consoles for multiplatforms. You have a PC I'd imagine. You are not the majority. Most people buy a box that goes under their TV and call it a day until a new one comes out.
Out of the three, ps4 is definitely the best, and has the least shitty company behind it

PS4 has a lot more than 5 games, something around 200 I think. Also don't equate Knack with Infamous. Infamous was great (not amazingly so, and a little short, but still)
Most people buying PS4 are doing so because they are tired of 720p, jaggy & unstable '30fps' games on the PS3 and 360 and want more up-to-date graphics, 1080p and more stable framerates.
dunno bout that, sony has some pretty shitty security leak issues, not to mention them making online play cost money really makes me not want to get a 4 ever
True, but at least you aren't just paying for online and you get like 60 games a year, better discounts and some other stuff, so in the end it's a pretty great deal.
Not to be"that guy" But the wii u has the best first party support, partner that with a pc and there's literally no reason to buy a ps4 aside from say blood born and uncharted if you're into those.
Wii-U also has been out for another year than the PS4, so you should be comparing the library of the first two years, and the Wii-U was notorious for having a terrible library then, and didn't have much third party support to make up for it. PS4 also has a bunch of exclusives or semi exclusives (in that the game will be on PS4, PS3, and maybe Vita) this year.

PS+ basically pays for itself after the first month, and then some, terms of value
Hell, this month I got New&Tasty, Valiant Hearts and Counter Spy for free.

Security issues isn't what I meant, I meant all the fucked up stuff Microsoft was gonna put in the xbone before they said "wait nvm" and xbox has always been pay for online sooooooo
ya the bone has been a nogo from day one but 4 was looking promising till ps+ req for online and the 3(?) service disruptions via hackings since its launch
There has been zero hacks since PS4's launch. If you are talking about the two DDoS attacks, those aren't hacks, and Xbox Live was also DDoSed. Steam also has been DDoSed many times in the past.
It is literally impossible to prevent a DDoS.

plan on buying one to play the last of us remastered online actually lol
PS4 exclusives that have been released (and why would you buy a console for a game that hasn't been) are:
Driveclub
Killzone shadow fall
Knack
The last of us (and it's just a "remaster")
Omega Quintet
Onechanbara Z2 Chaos
The order 1886
The playroom
Among those is not a single game I would care about playing, let alone buy a console for. I eventually usually buckle and buy a console when there's enough games that I really want to play but that's quite a sad list. There's some interesting stuff on the horizon (ie bloodborne) but I can't for the life of me understand why so many people have bought it already :v:

You're forgetting games that came out on both consoles but not on PC. But with that said there still hasn't really been any good games yet that I'm particularly interested in.
Destiny was a good contender but sadly turned out to be shit.
Also that list is missing a few games. Basement Crawl, Infamous Second Son, and Infamous First Light.
But if you're the sort of person who only cares to play exclusive games on consoles, why not include PS4 versions of "PS only" games like TLOU? If you do, then you have an additional twenty or so currently available PS4 games. Also, there are non-pc games, as mentioned by RautaPalli, but I have no idea where to find a list of non-pc games.

For PC users Nintendo is always the best choice, in my opinion.
Right now there's nothing worth buying on PS4 which is a shame.
Only game on Xbox worth it is Sunset Overdrive and Forza. Can't think of anything else tbh.
Disappointing start.
its like people want to kill gaming
Fuck the PS4. I am still loyal to PS3 as long as online gaming is still free of charge.

save for the gigantic sony leak. and ddosing can be considered a hack because it makes a lot of hacking methods rather trivial. It is very much possible to stop DDoS, mitigation just takes time.
The only thing preventing me from firmly deciding on saving up for a PS4 is the security leaks Sony has had. I'd get the PS4 for Infamous: Second Son and other exclusives but Sony just doesn't seem reliable.

Nintendo RELIES on it's first party games.
Sony and Microsoft are almost nothing but 3rd party.
I like the Wii U as much as anyone, but Nintendo have made some absolutely piss poor decisions with it.

The Sony leak was with computers at Sony Pictures, not servers at PlayStation.

Might want to tell the stock investors that then, because while Nintendo and Microsoft make healthy profits, Sony is losing billions of dollars a year. The company as a whole is actually now worth less than Nintendo in net value (not just the PlayStation brand, everything including their movies, phones and television divisons) due to their current, unsustainable business practices.
If they don't turn things around, Sony will literally have a net worth less than $0 by 2025 (assuming they don't go bankrupt before then somehow or absorbed by another company).
That has nothing to do with anything being discussed here, we're talking about how they treat their customers not how panicked their investors are.
He was saying about how Sony is the "least shitty company". Sony has by far the most underlying problems, thus that isn't the case. The PlayStation brand can't exist if Sony doesn't.
For PC users Nintendo is always the best choice, in my opinion.
Unless you're interested in frequent original IP.
I would have a very hard time justifying a ps4 purchase in its current state, there's no where near enough exclusive games for it yet and fuck paying for online
plus I would still need to keep my ps3 since the fucking thing isnt even backwards compatible

well you know apart from the fact that the PS4 (and PS3) now appear to be THE go to consoles for fighting games, especially with Street Fighter V coming along, not to mention ps3 > ps4 crossplay on a fair few already

Except SFV is going to be on PC too and will have crossplay with the PS4 version.
Even fucking Tekken is coming to PC now. The only thing we don't have is up-to-date anime fighters from Arcsys and Frenchbread.

Missing the point - talking specifically about consoles. I'm well aware that SFV will have PC > PS4 cross play, which is a very good thing for anyone who wants to play it and has friends who will get it on the PS4, but does not themself have, nor want a PS4.
Hopefully eventually the remaining divide will be entirely nullified, but it's unlikely any time soon. As a console fighter, Playstation is pretty much the best way to go right now - that probably isn't going to change for a long while.

ok but the first post you replied to was also talking about owning a PC, so trying to claim that Street Fighter V is a reason to get a PS4 makes no sense
