Oh hey baby how you doin? you with st. vincent? do you carry his guitar or uh

oh it's like that, that's cool you know. so who are you, some cute feist rip-off?
Annie Erin Clark (born September 28, 1982) is an American multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter who performs under the moniker St. Vincent. She was a member of The Polyphonic Spree and also part of Sufjan Stevens' touring band, prior to forming her own band. Clark currently resides in Manhattan.
sufjan stevens, the gay dude? so she must be like his younger sister or something.
Twitter-extraordinair St. Vincent, while certainly part of the same musical circle as Sufjan Stevens, stands her own ground with unique guitar chugging and elaborate phonetical singing.
I felt that as a somewhat rarity in now-homogenized indie rock (IE: female singer-songwriter that's good at guitar and wants to find their own voice) and three well-reviewed albums she deserves a thread rather than some passing mention in between blurts of young up-and-coming indie knock offs.
haha a girl good at guitar that's funny just show me the albums
Marry Me

holy shit that's indie!
is that a burlap sack?
Marry Me was released in 2007 and got positive interviews for being a strong debut. However, the album is instantly recognizable as one from the indie boom period, featuring progressive orchestration and post-90's melody which took emphasis away from her guitar work and voice. Only huge fans of The Dirty Projectors and Sufjan need apply.
hmm I wanna see her in motion...

well nothing creepy about that!
is she dead?
Actor, her true debut, was released in 2009 and does away with the high-brow enlightened pop sensibilities and instead focuses on song. This in turn makes the album far less recognizable as trendy and allows her to truly stand on her own artistically. The often sweet melodies contrast with St. Vincents dark lyrics dealing with depression or blue balls. From Actor does St. Vincent's fascination with blue balls truly arise.
blue balls? she's a man?

yep nothing more sexy than the dentist
Strange Mercy, the most recent album released just a couple of days ago on September 12, 2011, is St. Vincent's strongest album doing away with all the now-cheesy elaborate orchestration and focusing on chaotic noise gajiggering and voicing, ironically bringing her closer to The Dirty Projectors. The album is also pretty much just about blue balls and the angst resulting from such.
jeez what's with you and blue balls

In short if you like indie rock and you want something a bit special then you owe it to yourself to pick up one of her albums. If you don't well then we're pretty much done here aren't we?

Pitchfork's review of Strange Mercy was a load of drivel. I felt it was an 8.5 personally.
