[hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4txT2EicrHE[/hd] Not sure what to think of the story concept, or the soundtrack with its heavy emphasis on piano, but the game's billing itself as a spiritual successor to Chrono Trigger with publishing by Square-Enix. And the combat system is essentially ripped from and built upon CT's, along with factors like your characters keeping their post-attack position or enemies clumped together being hit simultaneously by regular attacks instead of just techs. There's amusingly even an option to mute the player protagonist's voice in battles. [sp]also for some reason it's "E3 2016 trailer" but the video was uploaded last month???[/sp]
Did they show the game at E3? Or were they represented there?
Yeah, ProJared has a video of him playing it at E3 at Square-Enix's booth, I missed their broadcast so they may have advertised it there.
Well. Doesn't look too impressive but I supposed I'd rather play this than the new Final Fantasy.
This trailer sucked ass to be honest.
This trailer sucked ass to be honest.
Yeah, it's got a low budget indie feeling about it all. I only really posted this because I heard no one even mentioning it anywhere and it's literally being advertised as a spiritual successor to Chrono Trigger despite only inheriting the combat system. I mean it has potential, but it could just as easily be mediocre overall.
I wonder why they chose that name for the English version. I was curious what they called it in Japanese so I did a quick search and came up with this. [t]http://i.imgur.com/f531XJ4.png[/t] That already sounds like a better name. I then decided to look up what the word Setsuna means in Japanese.
Setsuna is a Japanese word meaning "a moment; an instant". The word came from a Buddhist term: せつな meaning "split second," which was imported from China (in Chinese character format: 刹那 chànà) but originated in India (in Sanskrit: क्षण ksana). It can also be used as a given name as-is, or with different kanji.
Incorporating this translation into what I got from google translate earlier, we get "A Moment of Sacrifice and Snow" With this, it looks like the original name seems to have a double-meaning referring not only to the main character but also the instant where this "sacrifice" takes place. I can see why it'd be really hard to translate something like this so that it would have the same impact on English observers, but "I am Setsuna" seems like a pretty boring name to go with.

After seeing the title, I thought it was about this
I've never been a fan of newer JRPGs which mimics the style older JRPGs. Back in the day, it was awesome having the characters running around the miniature world, but I feel it's an outdated style when we have games like Skyrim and Witcher 3.

If a style works, it works. I don't really care how outdated it may seem because after a point, realism - with or without fantasy applied - gets boring if everything does it. I don't mind the graphical style here but the animations could use some work.
