• a psychedelic EP I made with a pal as a student project

Mamok Zalku has always been my stage name. I made this awhile ago to try and give my name some validity. Being the only Mamok Zalku in existence, googling me will now also show you a bandcamp page instead of just all my profiles with that name. I guess the genre is psychedelia. It's got some sound collagey tracks if you like ambience, both of which were composed by my good friend and hopefully lifetime collaborator. (I'm in love with the dude he's the best, but he doesn't think he's talented.) The EP is called "Human Nature?", it's the first in a line of amateur recordings. I recorded at a nature centre at my towns university during an arts program. I don't know if I should be proud or not, I think I can definitely do better. That being said though I still think it sounds cool. I think if there's anything I want in life it's just to make art for people to enjoy. I like performing, I like recording, I like making music. So give this a listen if you're interested. It's old stuff but feedback is always appreciated.
I had a listen and whoever sings has a very nice voice! It is very rough as you mentioned and I definietly think that it is a strength, it could probably sound better with some more time spent with producing and taking some more time on building the structure, but I would assume that is planned since you yourself acknowledge that it is rough. I especially like the second track, it sounds so very very raw and the added nuances with the voices just makes it so cool! You mention you're not sure whether if you should be proud or not, I would say you should because they are not bad tracks at all, some very nice ideas contained within that leaves a lot of room for improvement (and I say this as a compliment). Just read and saw that you're the one providing vocals, like I said very nice voice! Has a really soft&cool timbre to it :) I think your strongest track, and the type of sound you should try and follow is from the second track Verbs & Nouns, the first track is also pretty cool, it doesn't feel as finished as the second however and the rather random drums sort of detracts from all the cool stuff going on. I think a real actual drum + drummer would be optimal too. The track Catharsis has a very cool vibe though, how is it made? It sounds like you're recording something you're playing through speakers, like they did 'back in the days'. I'd love to hear how all the various instruments&sounds were recorded and in general just you telling the progress of it all :) Because this is a cool album with a lot of potential and it would be so cool to be able to get an insight into how you make such sweet music. The last track is very Protomen-esque, have you ever thought about making music like they do? Would you perhaps be interested in collaborating? I would love to combine your vocals with a proper rock track to back it up :)
I'm not really great at feedback considering my inexperience, but I loved this. I have to agree with Skeeter that I'm quite curious on how some things were done, for the whole album has this interesting sound to it. Well done :D
