A Republican candidate for the Maine House of Representatives has used Twitter to attack two students who survived a mass shooting at a Florida high school, calling one of them, who is openly bisexual, a "skinhead lesbian" and the other a "bald-faced liar." “There is nothing about this skinhead lesbian that impresses me and there is nothing that she has to say unless you're frothing at the mouth moonbat,” Leslie Gibson wrote about 18-year-old Emma Gonzalez, one of the most visible student activists to emerge from the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, which left 17 people dead. Gibson is the only declared candidate for the 57th District and told Maine's Sun Journal on Monday that it was "not appropriate to single out the Parkland students," who have been vocal about their desire for stricter gun control. But he said he stands firm in his defense of "our constitutional rights." He said he served in the military and took an oath "to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States." Gibson has since deactivated his Twitter account, but multiple news outlets have taken screen shots of his offending remarks. Gonzalez has not yet responded to Gibson's remarks.
NBC News There has been a call by Democratic activists within the state of Maine for someone to step up to oppose him. I saw some articles that are banned sources saying he is a member of the NRA, but I cannot confirm that.
What a detestable piece of human garbage.
GOP, the self-proclaimed champions of protecting children. Except if you do something against their ideals, then go fuck yourself...
What thoughts go through your head to go tweet something like that to someone who survived a shooting?
GOP, the self-proclaimed champions of protecting children. Except if you do something against their ideals, then go fuck yourself...
GOP only cares about children in the 9 months between conception and birth, after that you can get fucked. Until you turn 18. then suddenly they care again, but only in that you fall in line, pay taxes, vote for them, and ideally also join the army so they can send you into meat grinder situations somewhere on the arse end of bumfuck nowhere because they make a fuckton of money off the conflict in question.
What thoughts go through your head to go tweet something like that to someone who survived a shooting?
Well, politicians are apparently more likely to be sociopaths than the average Joe.
You wouldn't know what compassion was if it hit you on the face and told you what it is, you sociopathic pile of human garbage. Such individuals are not fit to represent so much as an apartment council never mind as a representative of the public.
Holy shit. Also that sounds like a complete oxymoron.
I got two words for this candidate: Fuck. Off.
Someone run against this piece of shit.
Someone run against this piece of shit.
It's bizarre that a candidate can run unopposed. You'd think that'd be unconstitutional as it allows for a single political entity to have control over the government. Maine needs better than this fuckshit
Someone run against this piece of shit.
District 57 in Maine has a total population of under 10,000. When you take out retirees (Maine is the oldest state by median age) and those too young, you've got a really slim portion of candidates who would have the time or desire to run against someone. Outside of urban centers (we don't really have many), more people tend to be conservative than not, which is not to say that a moderate conservative couldn't run against this person. It seems unlikely that the position will be fielded. On the other hand, I literally took a summer course with the state rep from a neighboring district, so the standards aren't exactly super high of who can be in the legislative body.
gee when you actively mock people for treating others as human beings, maybe some of that might possibly rub off on you.
Holy shit. Also that sounds like a complete oxymoron.
not quite. skinheads aren't exclusively nazis.
He's one to talk with a name like Leslie. Bet he got bullied in school as a kid and that's the source of his massive insecurity problem he's got going on here.
