• Soundproofing a Garage

To keep this short, me and my band need somewhere to practice and one of us has a garage free, how would you suggest going about soundproofing it cheaply. The only ways I know of at the moment are Mattresses and egg cartons on the walls, are there any other ways to soundproof it at a reasonable price that will keep the sound at least so the next house along can't hear it. I've done a bit of googling about but thought I'd check to see what other possibilities there are before trying a google result, thanks in advance.
Egg cartons. Lots and lots of egg cartons.
Sounds like fun, will do! How effective are they?
What about egg crate foam? You could probably find a place on the internet to get a shitload of it and just get velcro or double-sided tape to stick it to the walls.
I'm willing to buy tons of it if it'll work, I've heard from some people that it's brilliant and really works well as soundproofing but I've also heard from others that it just lightly dampens the sound, not making a difference to the actual volume.
Egg crates aren't soundproofing, they're sound treatment to stop internal reverberation. (And not very good at that either) To stop sound you need mass. Rockwool is a common one.
Try to suppress the drums, because that's the loudest thing and thats why you need to crank your amps up too.
