So I didn't know this place even existed until yesterday when I went to a park with my friend, and she commented about a restricted area called "The Depot" and I've always wanted to go exploring so we went! This place was like nothing I expected. It had roads that went on for miles and had a generally eerie feel to it, almost like an abandoned town. The Depot was home to many abandoned things, unfortunately it was getting dark and we were kinda sorta being chased by these people so we didn't stay long. Here are some pictures. Some pictures are blurry because we were in a rush, being chased and all. [t]http://i.imgur.com/u6eqsiv.jpg[/t] [I]Weird broken pottery on this road. Great stuff. Abandoned vehicles are always some of the best things to find whilst exploring.
Okay so more information. "The Depot" is literally just a depot. It's a GSA Depot which had its land transferred to the county. It was previously used for storing just about everything (including mercury not too far from where we were so :tinfoil:) and a prisoner of war camp. Ever since the transfer to county property my town has been trying to make it into a park, and got a tiny bit of it done (hence me being at the park when I heard about this). I'm assuming they either gave up or ran out of funding because that barren area was MASSIVE. But hey we saw a coyote :v:. article about this (2009): http://www.nj.com/reporter/index.ssf/2009/10/hillsborough_gsa_depot_from_pr.html [editline]21st July 2014[/editline] So those fields that I thought were plowed or something, yeah that's just the remains of acres of pulled up concrete.
Even if they ran out of funding I wonder why the machinery was left behind
What's the deal with being chased?
Who were you chased by?
I used to live in Hillsborough
What's the deal with being chased?

Who were you chased by?
Sorry, I forgot I made this thread. There were a bunch of high guys that were there too, eventually they started yelling at us and following us. Turned into a full-blown chase eventually. It was really fun, yet also extremely terrifying.
How did you escape? (The drunk people)
we went over a slight hill, enough to cut off visibility, and turned into a perpendicular ditch and walked down that. it had brush covering on one side so whenever we saw them on one side or the other we would hide behind the bushes.

Light up dark places with one end and beat the shit out of someone with the other. Bringing friends with maglites is always a plus. :v:
