Allow me to reiterate.
I only have 6 maps to choose between, i don't have ghost town for example.
So it confuses me why you would have them as map entries in the guide.

they're entries found in the files, doesn't mean they're actually there.
maps that are playable are in the maps folder and in the launcher

There have already been some DMCA takedowns of some of the content, wether it's 343 or Microsoft it's pretty clear that someone isn't happy, especially because people already have an alternative to thire P2W game before it's even released.

Ther'es rumours The Master Chief Collection will be launched only on Windows 10, so you can either invest in their new console or new operating system. The way they've been going though I highly doubt there would be any mod tools, since if you add modding nobody's going to spend £5 on a skin when there's thousands of free ones online.

The real investment for windows 10 is getting a card that supports dx12. Because lets face it, if you already have 7 there is little reason other than compatibility that's holding you back from a free upgrade.

For real this time or is it going to be like Halo 2 Vista where only the launcher required Windows Vista but the game could run on XP?

Microsoft wouldn't be releasing it for free if it made no income, they obviously get something out of people upgrading, I don't know all the business stuff behind it though.
Instead of invest I should have said persuade, people who originally wanted to stick with 7/8 might move over just for the game, or they may have made Windows 10 a better gaming platform and feel the Master Chief Collection is th ebest way to show that.
All speculation!

TBH their DMCA takedowns have been fair IMO. It's a closed beta; they should be able to put their foot down when someone releases something they don't want everyone to be able to use.
