British soldier wounded in Afghanistan dies in UK hospital - Polidicks

Sapper Richard Walker died in an insider attack by a suspected member of the Afghan National Army in the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand last week. Sapper Walker, 23, from Leeds, was from 28 Engineer Regiment attached to 21 Engineer Regiment. Its a war we really shouldn't be fighting tbh, I feel sorry for his family bearing this loss

If I recall correctly the last time this happened it was because of delayed emergency care, as in the soldier didn't make it to a medical facility quick enough. He and his unit were trapped in a 360 degree ambush and after the casualty occurred, his buddies retrieved him, broke out of the encirclement on foot, dragged him for 200 meters to a patrol base while under heavy fire and called for a Medevac that didn't come in time. By the time the casualty arrived at a medical facility, he was beyond help. He only died after being flown to the UK.

But it was something like the long range radio broke and requests where unable to made effectively leading to what you described. Edit: Effectively the patrol was a complete shambles with so many problems it was amazing they only lost 1 man.
