Simple for them, but a nice design nonetheless.
i wonder who their anime expert is? Matt often says he'll have watched some of whatever anime they produce weapons from, so maybe he's a secret weeb. He seems like the kind of guy who grew up watching Rurouni Kenshin and whatnot, Ilya too

I think Ilya's a giant weaboo.
"This weapon is going to be primarily for thrusting."
And then they don't thrust it at all in the demo. :(
such a good sword for such a bad show

Probably.
I know Kerry Stagmer shows up around here sometimes. Maybe he can shed light on it? :v:
I think Ilya's a giant weaboo.
He's living weaboo paradise, making anime swords and katanas and posting them on the internet, all day every day.
Showing off that "real" rapier reminded me to tell you guys (assuming Kerry reads this thread at some point) to do some realistic swords again. Just some beautiful, traditional swords really.

I think they made it too heavy for that. They seemed to be throwing their weight into each swing like it was a baseball bat. Man at arms is really good at making cool looking weapons, but being overly heavy seems to be a common theme.
They always get a relevant cosplayer :v:

I don't now a lot about the subject but I don't see how you could make it lighter, its just a bigass sword and I think it's just going to heavy because of that
Probably.

"probably"
Every time I see how their paint-jobs turn out, I can't help but feel that things would look way better (especially anime pieces that are almost always painted) if they had a powder-coating oven.
I knew they were using Bader belt sanders! those are great btw.
Yes Bader. 100-4a Space savers. We have 12 :D
I absolutely love that rapier. Doesn't come off as super flashy or "anime-y" in my opinion.

Something I'd like to see is for them to tackle some crazy, not-really-feasible, sword again. But this time, after they make it, they go back and redesign the sword themselves to be more sword-like. If that makes sense?
don't like the show the the sword turned out outstanding

It really is just a longsword with a fancy hilt.

MaA should make Excalibur from the 1981 film.
Why don't they just make the Dragonslayer already.
And no Gut's first sword isn't good enough. I want them to make a sword that nobody can use.
That random ass guilty gear xrd soundtrack :v:
(Hope they do something from that at some point)
I'd personally like to see Squall's gunblade or Cloud's buster sword.
Also fuck yes, we need an actual dragonslayer.

Is this a joke?

They used some clips from Sword Art Abridged which is pretty good.
Makes a whole lot more sense in context
Is this a joke?
Which part? I'm 100% serious about wanting to see an actual Dragonslayer.
Personally, I want more absurd weapons in general.

the parts about the gunblade and the buster sword
I wonder if they could be convinced to make the Longsword from Rust, and only use metal they find from things like stop signs and metal from junkyards.

Oh shit, excuse me. I haven't seen all the videos yet. I wasn't even aware those were done.

It's probably easier to make a straight up large weapon than fine tune the balance that a good rapier would have.

They've even done other ones like the Masamune.
