I ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY ARRESTS/CRIMINAL RECORDS/TROUBLE THIS THREAD AMOUNTS TO YOU RECEIVING! I NEVER MADE YOU DO ANYTHING.
I will get some banners up soon., but my camera doesn't have any batteries.
Come inside, sit down, remove your pants and pick up a texta.
This thread is basically devoted to all types of graffiti, and don't worry, I'm not an undercover cop. Basically here you post your endeavours in graffiti, but there are some rules, they are as follows:
1. Try and keep the tags to a minimum, this is graffiti thread! This is a tag. Calligraphy-type tags are fine.
Tags are not real art, if you think so, get out.
2. Nudity is fine, just obey the normal forum rules.
3. Photographs of graffiti on walls and stuff is fine, just don’t claim they’re your work if they aren’t.
4. Make your stuff colourful, don’t make them bland.
5. No two second shit.
6. Try and hand draw this stuff, but I won’t kill you if you use photoshop.
Now that that is out of the way we can get down to real business.
The tools of a graffiti artist;
1. The texta
2. The spray can
3. Try and use a scrapbook, not someone else’s wall, but if you do its fine.
4. Camera/ Scanner (use these to post them here)
5. The paintbrush! Useful for the outlines of wall art.
6. Pencil.
How to get started with graffiti;
Some towns have designated “graffiti walls” usually at skate parks, where you’re allowed to do whatever the heck you want.
To get started with graffiti, ask someone and look for tutorials. A good tutorial is this one
Try and compete in some of the competitions that are going on, you WILL NOT WIN but you can have a look at the higher ranking people and see what they do.
Stick to your own style!
But whatever you do, when starting, never start on someone’s wall, it just becomes an eyesore that they have to see each day.
Useful sites; the only one that I have at the moment is this one, they run competitions and stuff.
I hate people who leave those god awful 'tags' everywhere, I certainly hope this thread doesn't introduce anyone to the idea of producing them because they find out they can't create art with spray paint...
I love when people make amazing and creative art with graffiti. Just remembered the episode of Boon Docks where Riley was spray painting awesome art everywhere.

Read rule no. 1 fool.
Tagging is a very highly developed form of calligraphy, saying it's "not art" is pretty silly & ignant

I didn't mean that type of tag, I meant the type of tag that I used as an example in the OP, I'll edit it to portray what I meant more.

Also, is calligraphy defined as art? Not sure... but it doesn't matter, I didn't phrase the rule properly.

I beg for forgiveness.
I do some stencils and shit. Lemme see if I can find anything.

It kinda funny you should say that, around where I live you only get arrested or fined if your graffiti sucks.
I like that system.
Oh damn, I used to do a lot of work with stencils back when I was permabanned from FP and spent time on 4chan's /po/ section last summer. Lots of fun, though I never actually did more than paint on boxes and big sheets of paper for proof-of-concept.
And, I'd consider calligraphy an artform, to a point. Doing it as an artform, yes. Scribbling a tag and saying it's calligraphy, no. Similar to how snapping any old picture doesn't mean it's 'photography'.

Hey Dai, don't you say that mister two posts above is a bit of a troll?
[editline]05:32PM[/editline]
Two posts above of yours.
Nah, it's an opinion. A little harsh, but still not really trollin' material.
I wouldn't say he's a troll, in fact, I agree with him. I absolutely hate tagging, it's all just spam to me. But stuff like what everybody does and actual art is one of my favorite forms of art.

Yeah seems like all the people who can't draw just sign their alias on shit and make it look like trash. It seems that nearly every tag I see, they don't even try to make it look any different than signing their name with horrid penmanship.
At my town, there was this cool graffiti done of a girl with a mole on her cheek and some dumb skateboarder asshole tagged it up. :argh: No respect kids these days.
yeah, above post pretty much said it.
