A new "Ocean's Eleven" film is in the works, only this time, in line with the recent Hollywood gender-swapping trend, it's due to feature an all female line-up, with Bullock in the lead, and Gary Ross ("The Hunger Games," "Seabiscuit," "Pleasantville") directing
Why though.

guest starring Anita Starkeesian
reboot of a reboot
All-female reboots are just box office bait, they're never memorable movies because it just takes the same exact story and adds a "Hey, gender stuff is weird right now in America!" undertone.
Female-led movies are possible and can be successful and entertaining, like Bridesmaids, but they need to have an original story, not just copy a story that was originally about men. It undermines the whole point of the movies, rather than it being about a bunch of cool women, it's about a bunch of cool women doing the exact same thing a bunch of men did in an older movie. It makes it seem like you can't write a good story about women, that you can only take a good story about men and make it about women.
Even after the first Bridesmaids they couldn't think of anything new to write, so they just made a sequel, and that Spy movie with Melissa McCarthy which was mostly just Chris Farley jokes in a female context. I really root for good female characters in film, and shit like this misses the point entirely. It's pushing the idea that women can only lead a movie a few decades after men already led the same movie

I'd watch that
It's cool that the Oceans director and George Clooney are partially responsible for this being a thing in the first place, and that it's already been planned for a couple years. I wish the Oceans director was actually directing this film as well, but I'd be interested in seeing how Gary Ross handles it.
Also glad to see Sandra Bullock appearing in bigger films again. I know she's been working, but it feels like it's been a long while since I've really seen her in anything, besides Gravity.
Personally I was hoping for Ocean's fourteen, although as long as it keeps the charm that the original and the reboot had, then I'll watch it.
If it turns out good, I won't mind.
Yeah if only.
Why not just have an all female heist film of a different name? People would appreciate it more as an homage rather than a reboot.

It would be perfect for her. She already was the wardrobe full of plaid shirts.

she has 3 and that's the only thing she wears

There is a good chance that she filmed all the episodes in 3 days

Besides the gala dresses, but shhhh, nobody should know about those, they are too feminine!

That movie phase occurred in hong kong action films before, but it died out in the early 90s.
why sandra bullock
is that really the first woman you think of when you're looking for clooney-esque wit and charm

That's really the biggest thing that's bothering me about all this "all female reboot trend" (and is this even really a trend? The only other thing where this is happening that I can think of is Ghostbusters.) I have no problem with the idea of giving Sandra Bullock a heist movie or making movies for women these days but give them their own film for God's sake. By making it a reboot it is inevitably going to have to live with comparisons to the original.

They're rebooting Roadhouse with a female lead, it's definitely a trend.
The article says it's unsure if it's a reboot/remake, a sequel, or a spinoff.
If it's a sequel or a spinoff, it might be okay, but if it's a reboot, then it's stupid and lazy.
Sadly though, despite being stupid and lazy, it's not guaranteed to bomb.

Gotta have that name recognition! :eng101s:

making it look like a trend generates controversy and publicity for the first few movies that do it. it doesn't even matter if this is a genuine attempt at some kind of diversity because either way Hollywood is far too cynical and manipulative to let the novelty of an all-female cast lie. everything about this screams "possibly legitimate project hijacked by Todd From Marketing."
pls no
those three movies are my favorite movies of all time
I mean, I love sandy as much as the next guy, but pls noooo

Oh yeah that's the Rhonda Rousey thing. I completely forgot about that
Hollywood are whores for whatever is trending in America at the time. At the moment it is grrrl power.
They're only doing it because of dat der guaranteed payday and the potential for free publicity if MRAs complain.
All-female reboots are just box office bait, they're never memorable movies because it just takes the same exact story and adds a "Hey, gender stuff is weird right now in America!" undertone.
It's funny you say that because no all-female reboot has been released yet.
So you really can't say unreleased movies are not memorable because they're not released yet.
But hey, what do I know. It'll be the same thing as the Ghostbusters where people are gonna complain about it even though we don't have a trailer, actual official stills from the movie (and not publicity), or heck, I don't know, the actual movie.
With any other movie that kind of behavior would be stupid, but since it's a reboot, well, come on down, everything's allowed!
Hell, I'll watch it.
Actually I just found a leaked script online, and instead of a Casino, this time around its a gaming convention? The villians name is Pat I. Archy? Did anyone else know about this?
