250gig a month isn't bad if your max speed is 2 meg a second, I could live with that, though I get 2meg a sec (On a fantastically good day) and often go over 250gig a month. If you're going to scale the service that high, you should also scale the cap just as much. It's like having an Oven vs a Toaster. An oven can make toast, all month, all mornings, but it's slow, so you get a toaster, But the toaster only lets you make 3 pieces of toast a week. It just seems dumb

100/month is a shit deal. I don't understand why it has to be so expensive. You can hire a VPS with 100mbit switch for only a few pounds a month, But when you want a 100mbit internet connection at your house it costs enormousness amounts of money.

And, your ping in online gaming isn't going to be any better than cheap DSL, actually it'll more than likely be twice as bad Believe it or not though, This is cheaper than what I'm paying for my internet, almost by half

I used to (And I'm very glad I don't anymore) pay $80 a month for 90 KB/s and ~3000 ping. You could use 90 MBs every four hours, if you went over that it would go slower than a 56k for 24 hours. Then it switched to 200 MB a day, same thing happened if you went over. I sure do love rural areas and their horrible ISPs.

Well to be honest, 250GB is Comcast's default data cap, so it isn't like they made it specifically for this plan to rail people

I'm looking into alternative ISPs. All I have in my area is Comcast and AT&T, and AT&T has their 250GB cap while Comcast is probably going to start a 120GB cap in my area. Is there any other solution?

You are literally just paying for the CPU time and bandwidth, that's it. When you have cable at home, the ISP has to install the infrastructure. A lot of the time you don't pay an installation fee, but they will add markup on the bill each month to cover it. Some installations are also more expensive than others (ie in rural areas), but they can't charge you more just because of that. They have to put the price of EVERYONE's bill up to cover this.

With my current ISP I can't use skype for more than 10 minutes without my connection shitting all over itself and the internet completely shutting down for a few hours.

i see no problem with Comcast's 250 gb limit and their internet service for me has been pretty good this far. I usually get around 2 mb/s when downloading from Steam and about 1-1.5 mb/s downloading from somewhere else. Last few months I've only used about 130 GB and this month so far it's only been about 80 GB.

I have comcast, and I use 750ish GB a month, so, the cap isn't enforced.
