The original artist's name: Phil Collins
Description: Ambient cover of a popular song - features vocals, drum machine and effects by me.
Why you chose to cover the song: I saw the original as very atmospheric as a pop record even though most people think of pretty much only the drum solo. By removing that explosive section, I thought I'd remind people of the more relaxing nature of it.

FAQ
Q: Is it really free?
A: Yes.
Q: You said it was free but it is asking me for a price.
A: Try entering in "0" for a price. If that doesn't work we likely ran out of download credits.
Q: If I donate money where will it go?
A: It could go one of two places. The first being to download credits. Bandcamp gives you 200 download credits each month. Download credits allows you to download the album or a song in whatever format you want for a credit per song. When the album releases, the credits get eaten up pretty quickly due to how many songs are on the album. The credit package is as follows:
$9 USD for 300 download credits
$20 USD for 1000 download credits
$75 USD for 5000 download credits
After the amount of traffic slows down to a point where nobody is really downloading anymore, the rest of the money will go towards a charity. The charity in particular will depend upon a vote granted there is a decent amount of money. If there is only 30 cents left, voting or donating wouldn't make much sense for obvious reasons.
Q: How was the track order decided?
A: If a person submitted more than one track, it was put at the end of the album. The order of the album is semi-random, semi-chosen. The chosen part are what songs are around a song, the random part is where those songs are on the album.
Downloading and reviewing this shit yo
Took a while to get this released, so I hope it's worth it. Now for people to actually listen to it.
"Tribute" in the title suggests this is a tribute to Facepunch. Change it to covers bro.
Alright, here goes:
Thisispain - Nocturne (Debussy)
Maybe not the best starting song, but it has good atmosphere and the quality is great.
Some notes sounded a bit off, but that's probably also in the original song, so can't blame you for that.
Pepin/Mr._N - Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd)
Vocals have an odd filter to them, or maybe its just a quality issue, but otherwise its a very well done cover.
Solo was way too long though. Should've ended 3 minutes before it actually did.
ExEcuteFox - Avast Your Ass (Kitsune2)
I like it. Pretty energetic and has enough variety to keep me interested.
HulluV3 - One Must Fall (Kenny Chou)
Exactly what I'd expect from Hullu.
Awesome metal.
Hakita - The Gaming Medley (shitloads of people)
I'm going to hang Pepin for putting this song after Hullu's.
It makes the shitty mixing sound even shittier.
Also, remember that this song was made... 6 months ago when the album first started, so thats why Skyrim is on there :v:
Project Laser Storm & Guitarmonkey - War? (System of a Down)
Mixing is really well done here. Great bassy sound.
The lack of vocals kind of pulls it down though, but its still very enjoyable.
Vedicardi - Storm The Embassy (Stray Cats)
The timing sounds really off on the guitar and sometimes on the percussions, which is really annoying.
The mixing is also something that should be worked on, but otherwise decent.
Mr._N - Always and Never (Coheed & Cambria)
Absolutely fantastic in every way.
The vocals have always been something that I've disliked about C&C, but this cover has incredibly good vocals.
Awesomesauce/Chaz13 - Walking On Sunshine
Really positive song, which is great contrast to Mr._N's.
The quality is great and vocals are fantastic.
The song seems to cut off for some reason mid-outro though.
Hooky - Green is the Colour (Hooky)
Like all the ones before this, its a good cover.
The intro vocals are a bit off, but otherwise well done.
Falloutguy - Friday I'm In Love (The Cure)
Pretty basic, just clean guitars with vocals.
Does it job, though. I feel like it should've had something more, but its still decent.
The Wait - In the Pines (Leadbelly)
Incredible atmosphere.
The bass is a bit overpowering, but the vocals are brilliant and overall its a very good, dark song.
AK'z - In The Air Tonight (Phil Collins)
Your basic Akayz 2deep4u ambient.
Pretty forgettable.
Kitteh-nator - Hit Me Baby One More Time (Britney Spears)
Exactly what I expected.
Noise. Lots and lots of noise.
My ears hurt.
Vedicardi - The Beat Goes On (Sonny And Cher)
Better than the other song done by Vedi.
The distorted guitar felt a bit weak, but otherwise it was a good song.
Hakita - The Grand Medley (Even more shit loads of people)
Its a song about those songs that I know.
You know.
The intro is way too quiet tho.
Also this thread is dying pretty soon.
We are probably not even going to reach the second page.
The Avast Your Ass thing is this incredibly generic pop electronica danceclub whatever music but the rest is pretty alright
AK'z's song is some hipster bs
i like this constructive criticism.
I'll be listening to the album tomorrow. Though I already did kind of listen to it through the mastering process, I wasn't at all in critique mode.
but yeah it is pretty hipster

Man, on one of these albums I've gotta contribute haha. I've said so in the past.
Man, on one of these albums I've gotta contribute haha. I've said so in the past.
If there will ever be more, that is.
Almost nobody actually listens to these albums anymore.
Have some bonus covers that I wasn't satisfied with.
Farewell and Goodnight - Smashing Pumpkins

Fly Me to the Moon - Frank Sinatra

I'll get in a review soon.
If there will ever be more, that is.

it's not about how many sales or listens. If one person gets joy out of this then I'm happy.
[editline]8th August 2012[/editline]
yeah that one person was me. :-)
Thisispain's one is really relaxing and lovely haha. I love it.
AK'z cover made me feel like I was bitten by a venomous snake in the jungle and was hallucinating hard yo
I mean that in a good way.
AK'z cover made me feel like I was bitten by a venomous snake in the jungle and was hallucinating hard yo

Thats kind of what all Phil Collins' songs make you feel like
Phil Collins always irritates me.
I love hooky's cover of green is the colour, great replication of many of the musical styles that floyd goes for and some nice mixing. Thisispain's nocturne I really enjoyed as well
this will probably be the last release, seems like
Thisispain - Nocturne (Debussy)
It's always nice and relaxing to listen to anything by Debussy and hearing a piece meant for an orchestra being played with guitars and a Rhodes piano and all that is really interesting. Probably one of the best on the album.
Pepin/Mr._N - Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd)
Pepin did a great job with the instrumentation and arrangement. I cringe hearing myself trying to do Waters on this one though. Great guitar solos by Pepin and Kitthehacker.
ExEcuteFox - Avast Your Ass (Kitsune2)
I had to listen to the original and then the cover. The cover is much more upbeat than the original, and a fun listen.
HulluV3 - One Must Fall (Kenny Chou)
Again, had to listen to the original first. Hearing a metal cover of a song is always great.
Hakita - The Gaming Medley (shitloads of people)
Signature midi-song from Hakita. Wish I could've recognized everything, but still a great listen.
Project Laser Storm & Guitarmonkey - War? (System of a Down)
I thought the chiptuney bits juxtaposed with the heavy guitars and drums were a bit odd, but I guess that makes the cover interesting. Could've used some vocals, though.
Vedicardi - Storm The Embassy (Stray Cats)
The wooden table percussion is funny, really adds to the lo-finess that Vedicardi's known for.
Mr._N - Always and Never (Coheed & Cambria)
I was sick when I recorded this and it bothers me hearing the stuffy nose quality of my voice. Wish I could've done this with an acoustic. Also wish I had decent mixing skills.
Awesomesauce/Chaz13 - Walking On Sunshine
The ow at the beginning made me laugh. The vocalist does a good job singing this. The instruments all sound clean and great.
Hooky - Green is the Colour (Hooky)
Probably my favorite on the album. I like the incorporation of elements of other Floyd songs used in this. Hooky captures the gentleness of Gilmour's voice in this song, but is a bit too gentle at parts.
Falloutguy - Friday I'm In Love (The Cure)
I'm a sucker for straight acoustic guitar and vocal covers of songs. I liked the slight phaser effect too. Made me think of my ex for some reason...
The Wait - In the Pines (Leadbelly)
I like the gritty aspect of this cover. I guess it has to do with how the vocals are mixed. It's a bit too muddy and strong in the low end, though.
AK'z - In The Air Tonight (Phil Collins)
Come on, we've already heard this from you Akayz. At least you could've used your harmonium?
Kitteh-nator - Hit Me Baby One More Time (Britney Spears)
Haven't heard this song in years, but that probably doesn't matter. Really noisy. Not much else to say haha.
Vedicardi - The Beat Goes On (Sonny And Cher)
Sonny and Cher would be proud. I especially like the last half.
Hakita - The Grand Medley (Even more shit loads of people)
Another midi signature from Hakita. Really interesting to hear the songs midi-ized.

Really interesting to hear the songs midi-ized.
As opposed to..? :v:
AKZ stop making this trash plz, I'd like to enjoy the next album so hopefully you won't be on it.
since these people are so pessimistic for another release, I may as well start a whole new type of collab album :-)
since these people are so pessimistic for another release, I may as well start a whole new type of collab album :-)
Definitely, so long as you don't release it here go for it!
it's better that way i think.
R.I.P. Music in GD
Akayz why did you leave the vocals in on your song? To me it seems like you could've taken the vocals out and messed about with the instrumental to make the song better, the vocals sound horrible and detached.
Akayz why did you leave the vocals in on your song? To me it seems like you could've taken the vocals out and messed about with the instrumental to make the song better, the vocals sound horrible and detached.
I could have done that.
But not sure I want to.
AKZ stop making this trash plz, I'd like to enjoy the next album so hopefully you won't be on it.
So you're not just arrow-minded but you can't ignore one song cause you don't like it and therefor it spoils the whole album for ya? I'm glad you don't enjoy this album.
I could have done that.
But not sure I want to.
That's cool, just giving my suggestion.
