Yeah, that is literally Dark Souls with the movement and all but then it has all that anime aesthetics and it's weirding me out. [editline]11th September 2017[/editline] And no, I'm not saying "OMG THIS GAME IS LITERALLY DARK SOULS", I'm saying that it's very recognisable who made the game based on the movement alone.

Really not feeling it.
It's not made by From Software, though.
Wait, really? I thought it was made by them, or I think I read it was made by them or someone having to do something with Dark Souls and Bloodborne? Jeez, I got bamboozled by bad reading then. rip [editline]11th September 2017[/editline] Oh, it's from Namco which explains the connection I made there. Kind of dumb of me.

Code Vein is being developed by Shift, who are mostly known for the God Eater series.
those ladders look so out of place in a modern city environment :v: Game looks cool if you're really diehard for souls combat, but fromsoft's games are a lot more than that. Everything outside the gameplay looks uninteresting to me
God the God Eater devs need a new artstyle. They can design monsters wonderfully, but their character design is fucking awful

Although the teaser looks way better than what it is now.
God the God Eater devs need a new artstyle. Obviously I'd need to know more about the whole game before leveling any serious criticisms, but looking at this makes me worry how much it's going to be its own thing and not just another 3rd party dark souls. And jeez those ladders, I had to go back and check to see if they were actually different from Bloodborne's.
Bandai's "Prepare to Dine" adverts just scream "hey guys look, it's just like Dark Souls, that's still cool right?" :why:
remove the fucking fresnel lighting for the love of god itd make it a thousand times better it didnt even look great on nintendos wii games, but at least it didnt totally clash with their artstyle either.
I mean im p sure the game is literally marketed as dark souls even by the publishers last i heard
Looks kinda generic(?) but I wouldn't mind trying it out.
this is like the....... dark souls of anime and video games
i mean, i'll try it. it doesn't look like the worst game in the world, at the very least.

That's a waste of potential

Honestly they would have been better off pushing the cartoony and anime. Might as well at least give it a unique feel.
I think this has potential but they need to re-think their combat feedback. A game that is going to be mostly combat needs to actually be enjoyable during it. For these guys, they should look to Devil May Cry in my opinion. It has that mix of fast and stylish but still high-impact and satisfying that this game looks to be going for. I really think they need to take some cues from DMC, I mean if you look at the way Dante swings the Rebellion around in DMC 3 and 4 it's a pretty big sword, but with such a fast combat system he swings it around really quickly, yet it still looks and feels weighty enough to have impact, stinger feels like it SLAMS into enemies, you can almost feel the shockwave fling off the blade from drive, things like that. It seems like that's the feel they WANT, it's just not what they have.
