Don't get your hopes up, a Bungie employee released a patch a few years ago when a critical bug was discovered and Bungie could not or did not want to update the game themselves.

The (only viable) server app just updated to add custom variables too, so servers can pretty much script all kinds of wacky gamemodes. I just made Tank wars, Hunt, and Dogfight modes, and plan on making a vehicle buying system and a better map voting (vote for map, then vote for gametype for instance)
So much crazy shit is about to happen to halo, it's the perfect time to start playing again.

It's probably not in bungies power to consider a steam release.

No, i'm genuinely curios. Till a few years ago, people didn't even dare talk about halo on PC focused forums because it was 'the shitty console shooter of the time that wasn't as good as its pc counter parts'. But all of a sudden everybody is begging microsoft for halo games on pc and steam.

dunno where you've seen that, honestly. almost everyone i ever talked to loved the Halo games on PC. even back then.
bungie is cool af. honestly one of the more down to earth studios i've seen
one thing i wish they'd do is go back to their root platform, though

A few years ago Call of Duty was just another WWII shooter with a fairly good multiplayer. Then IW released CoD 4, which was still good
Then Modern Warfare 2 came along and a mass exodus happened, with thousands of little kids jumping ship from Halo to CoD.
People hated Halo because it was [I]the[/I] big thing in gaming. Then it took Call of Duty only one game to take the throne.

i have no idea what PC gamers thought of the series years back, but its certainly always been a great shooter to just have mindless fun, in both the SP and MP. 3 and reach have been equally as great, so the want for a PC version of both havent been wrong

I wouldn't exactly consider it perfect, considering that the experiments they did with the weapon sandbox turned out kinda wonky (but hey, at least they tried to change it up a little instead of providing us a clone of a game) but I wouldn't put it down either. I'd be happy if H3 or Reach came to PC.
(Certainly Reach would have more modding potential, I think)
i like reach's weapon array more. the DMR and the more effective pistol are game changers in a good way, makes people less reliant on the assault rifle
in 3, you knew who was going to die from the moment you get shot/start shooting because it's so predictable; where as in with reach, if you're good at pulling your pistol and landing a few shots you get rewarded with the kill instead
i liked 3's maps more, though. forge also had more variety in 3, but i can't say it isn't a million times better in reach

Well, the patch fucking broke Sky's The Limit, so I guess I have to go back to the shitty FOV now.
Man, good thing I have like 3 copies of it for the Xbox 1 and for PPC OS X, and not a single copy for PC.
