Is that using the same game engine? Looks really fluid compared to Terraria. Can't wait for this release.

Call me cynical, but looks like "alright Starbound didn't pry them from it, let's try something more familiar" to me. Also the graphics style is now just detailed enough for me to not fill in the gaps with my imagination anymore, which makes it look plain ugly to me. Not that Terraria's mish-mash style is known for being eyecandy.
But I guess I'll see what the real thing is actually about.

When they asked Red about whether he would release DLC or the like for his game, he said that he made so much off of it that he could easily afford to keep giving out free content. Even if he didn't, it would go against his original intentions to keep the game completely free.
So are they still releasing one last update for terraria? Or has that big update already been released and I'm late?

1.3 is still in development, they haven't mentioned any actual release dates yet because they're still (apparently) selecting and adding new features.
That's good then, was worried they'd decided to stop that. Dying to replay terraria but I'd rather wait for this update to be released.
I couldn't get into terraria. perhaps it would be better with people.
Also the development cycle for original Terraria will still apparently continue for some time, as Y0raizor and Skiphs will continue development after Red releases the 1.3 update.

It got a stable update recently, which implemented many features and a placeholder progression.
Environments look good. Character design looks shit
Yeah I thought Starbound was Terraria 2 basically? But "better in every way".
I loved Terraria, it was fun with lots of goals and things to be found

Yeah it's come a long way since its humble beginnings back in the day.
Every time I get back into Terraria after a break there is a mountain of new content and stuff to do and I'm just as confused as the first time I played, the support that game gets is crazy
I'll laugh my ass off if this gets finished before Starbound does.
So what... Is this like a sequel or something? If so, that's pretty awesome.

It could have been. Might be in another 6 months or a year.
I've supported Starbound since Day 1, but holy shit this looks better than Starbound by miles already.
As someone who has played 176 hours of terraria and has bought over twenty copies of it for friends, i'm pretty fucking excited.

As someone who has played 22 hours of Terraria and bought only one copy which was for myself on sale, i'm still pretty excited.

Well to be fair to Redigit he's not exactly bad at game design. It's just that he's bad at balancing things and his programming skills seem somewhat questionable from what I know.
I've played a little of Terraria, taking it slow but at first I left it alone so I could forget everything that was told to be and go in fresh, "okay how did I make that watch, I'll look at the wiki just once....". If I pick up this version I'll learn my lesson and not look at a wiki or video tutorial.
