I had to pause the video and just laugh for half a minute after seeing 1:37. I'm not sure why i find this so funny: [vid]https://files.catbox.moe/o8cf6e.webm[/vid]
I mean, I still don't hate it, but if it's not a complete mess I'll be very surprised.

Fuck yeah wreck it ralph 2.
Fuck yeah wreck it ralph 2.
Wreck it Ralph was actually good though
Something about this movie feels off to me. I don't know what but it's like the uncanny valley of cultures.
Fuck yeah wreck it ralph 2.
Except Wreck-It Ralph 2 is actually coming out so I'm probably going to watch that instead of this.
That trailer gave to much that is not in correlation to the book I am out!
That trailer gave to much that is not in correlation to the book I am out!
You're kidding, right? If anything that's a selling point
I don't think the CGI is supposed to look ultra-realistic since it's all set in a video game.
That part is supposed to be real though
Minor Spoiler alert in the trailer, [sp] Wade's main guy friend in the Oasis is actually a black lesbian irl, you can see her in the van in this trailer[/sp]
Holy shit; they had such issues with the art style they had to wash out the colors to make them mesh.
It looks like it was written by a 12 year old.
imo all of these references are kinda justified since it is set in that game world, and this is just judging by the trailer, which is aimed to be "I KNOW WHAT THAT IS" much like Wreck-it-Ralph's trailer.
They're justified given the context but the context is dumb because it only exists in order to give a space within which to make copious cultural references that ultimately get in the way of plot and aesthetic consistency. I kind of enjoyed the book, but the entire time I was thinking 'this would be awesome if it didn't look so dumb in my head.' Because there is no way that a gundam fighting a de Lorean fighting an Iron Giant fighting an anime fighting a pac man won't look like the back page of a 10 year old's math book Having said all that, the 10 year old in me is kind of excited [editline]16th February 2018[/editline] A core problem with the book is that there were literally entire paragraphs dedicated to listing all the cultural references the protagonist could see. I'm picturing the entire film being done in one take, a homage to the opening clock scene from Back to the Future but instead of clocks it's 80s references.

AND THEN king kong jumped out of big ben and punched optimus prime in the face and then master chief came out and shotted the spider robot. cloud strife felt the darkness
My friend's really excited for this movie and is wondering why I don't want to see it and I keep telling him. "If you take away all the references I wouldn't see it and I'm not paying money to see references". When you take away all the references it's another book about"apocalyptic society where the big company running things is corrupt and the only people who can stop it are teenagers for whatever reason". It's not a story I'm really interested in. The scavenger hunt concept interested me but once I saw how it leaned toward combating the big company I lost that interest. I don't mind "Video Game reference: The Movie" as long as the main story is interesting. It's why Wreck It Ralph was good, it's main story was enjoyable and didn't rely on famous franchises, as welcomed as they were,. not to mention it didn't bloat the movie with as many franchises as possible, I understand the context, I just feel like it's too much visual noise.

I can totally see an action movie of nothing but references and cameo appearances working out fine. A simple story is all you need to connect the scenes. Also the fact that they decided to go for it and put as many real life properties in the movie as they could is oddly wholesome in a cold and corporate way.

do you think there will be a ugandan knuckles-like character in this vrchat movie?
AND THEN king kong jumped out of big ben and punched optimus prime in the face and then master chief came out and shotted the spider robot. cloud strife felt the darkness
The fight raged on for a century Many lives were claimed but eventually The champion stood, the rest saw their better Mr. Rogers in a blood-stained sweater
I imagine this will be a pretty bad film but a great film to watch and just switch off.

I'm not sure why i find this so funny: [vid]https://files.catbox.moe/o8cf6e.webm[/vid]
Probably because it looks so much like this timeless classic, except for a modern age :v: I couldn't take anything seriously after I saw that bit, too. On a serious note: You better not fucking shit on the Iron Giant's legacy in this film, because that is some serious childhood nostalgia you're throwing around there, that's asking for trouble.
I found some leaked footage from the movie:
I read the first chapter of the book and it was the main character shitting on religion like a 16 year old in Youtube comments.
I imagine this will be a pretty bad film but a great film to watch and just switch off.
Dead meme? If they care about money they'll insert him somehow.
