A motion authorising the mission is expected to pass on Monday in the House of Commons. The six-month mission will include CF-18 fighter jets and refuelling and surveillance aircraft, but not ground troops. PM Stephen Harper said it was intended to "significantly degrade" IS.

Lmao:
No fair, teams are stacked. Where's the auto-balance?
Agressive expansion penalty is fucking stupid plz fix paradox
No fair, teams are stacked. Where's the auto-balance?
sad part is even with that entire force, organized militarys versus a terrorist group never works out. An organized military surrenders, A force drowned in religion and killing everyone doesn't surrender unless you literally wipe out every single member of that force.
Lmao:
This will officially be recounted as the war where one side is screaming GET FUCKED. Guess which.
Lmao:
At least the world united quickly against people wanting to create an empire this time
I can only quantify world news with references to video games and internet jokes.
This forum is gaming-centric. People don't make gaming references because that's the only way they can understand things, it's because the large majority of the community will get the reference. That's why they use Facepunch as opposed to any other site, they have something in common with the community, what's wrong with expressing that?
2000 die from ebola in nigeria "lmao pandemic reference get it guys? shower me in funnies please!"
And your point is? Sure this forum may be fucked up but that has nothing to do with what you were replying to was discussing about.
The ice climbers got cut but Canada made it in? Ridiculous
Lmao:
HAHAHHA ISIS is fucked
HAHAHHA ISIS is fucked
Too bad they really aren't. Just burning some tax money, thanks Harper... [editline]3rd October 2014[/editline]
At least the world united quickly against people wanting to create an empire this time
Russia and Ukraine would like to have a word with you :v:
sad part is even with that entire force, organized militarys versus a terrorist group never works out. Most of the nations fighting them and providing military assistance are predominantly some type of Christian or Catholic, or just non-Muslim in general. We seriously need to get more middle-eastern countries to go up against them.
2000 die from ebola in nigeria "lmao pandemic reference get it guys? shower me in funnies please!"
What an extreme example. Obviously it's not okay to make fun of something like that.
Despite all the shit going on in 2014, the entire world seems to really be coming together across economic boundaries. The entire world is united in three things this year: stopping ISIS, stopping Ebola, and in our condemnation of Russian aggression.
Oh boy here we go again.
And then Justin Trudeau decided to make a dick joke about our involvement in this.
“Why aren’t we talking more about the kind of humanitarian aid that Canada can and must be engaged in, rather than, you know, trying to whip out our CF-18s and show them how big they are,” Mr. Trudeau said in a question-and-answer period after his speech to the Canada 2020 conference.
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/canada-must-be-involved-in-iraq-but-not-necessarily-combat-trudeau-says/article20889487/
No they aren't. Almost every country listed save for a few local countries have pledged to wage an "air war", a concept that's completely mentally retarded, and only panders to the civilians who are sitting there saying "omg we need to do something, but we shouldn't do anything involving troops cause that might cause deaths". In reality we're going to kill a few brown people, look at the region and say "yes, they're defeated", then we'll go back to our comfy homes and watch and be amazed and shocked when a similar group re-appears in like 3 years.
As much as I regret saying this, this is why we have to get soldiers into ISIS territory to take them down. We're also going to need a hell of a lot more help coming from more than just Europe, Canada, and some other countries in fighting ISIS. Even when this conflict with them ends, there will likely be splinter groups forming and reappearing a few years from now, and then we will spend another decade senselessly sending people to fight and die against a seemingly unstoppable enemy. Their twisted sense of faith is what drives these people into forming fanatic and insurgent groups, then they tear ass across the middle-east and only grow larger.
No they aren't.
We shouldn't involved troops because that has never worked before. "Hey lets waste trillions of dollars to accomplish virtually nothing"
Why the fuck are we getting involved in this? I've always liked being Canadian because we tended to be pretty pacifist. Is there not a big enough force against ISIS already?
sad part is even with that entire force, organized militarys versus a terrorist group never works out. An organized military surrenders, A force drowned in religion and killing everyone doesn't surrender unless you literally wipe out every single member of that force.
That's the thing about IS fighters, they're terrible at fights, but they never really surrender either.
That's the thing about IS fighters, they're terrible at fights, but they never really surrender either.
Uh, no? The thing that makes IS dangerous as hell is not only their tenacity, but their combat experience.
That's the thing about IS fighters, they're terrible at fights, but they never really surrender either.
The fact that they have free reign over half of Iraq and a third of Syria says otherwise. [editline]4th October 2014[/editline]
Uh, no? The thing that makes IS dangerous as hell is not only their tenacity, but their combat experience.
Also, this. Plenty of soldiers they've fought against have surrendered to them, and a nice fraction of those soldiers are also now fighting for them (albeit against their will). They are not a bunch of idiot jihadists with bb guns and dad's pick up truck, they are a scourge that has had training, is experienced, and poses a huge threat to the middle-east. If they aren't dealt with permanently, they'll just split up into more groups that will also attract more people wanting to fight for a similar cause.
Why the fuck are we getting involved in this? I've always liked being Canadian because we tended to be pretty pacifist. Is there not a big enough force against ISIS already?
ISIS is a threat to the stability of the entire world. This is everyone's fight. Attitudes like this will be the death of us all.
IDK why Canada is seen as a weak military power. Canada has contributed TONS to every western Military operation in the recent future, far more so than many European 'powers' I for one, thank our awesome Canadian neighbors.
Harper finally got his dream of sending us to Iraq, and I hope it politically ruins him.
Canada=bro nation
