So i thought i should try and make a short time lapse video with my Nikon D40. I am going to take really many photos of the huge clock tower we have in my town. I only have a 1gb memory so with medium quality it will be about 500 pictures. I will be doing this at night and i have a tripod. So i was wondering, How much time should i leave in between the photos. I thought about 40 seconds between every photo. Is there anything else i should know?
I can suggest that you lock the focus as well as the exposure settings, to ensure no significant changes between shots. If you have a remote, use that, it will reduce movement on the camera. Try looking through the internets for an auto-time lapse script for your camera as well.
If you need a timer, you can use a ti83 or ti84 graphing calulator, and program it to do that stuff. You could find tutorials with a quick google.
