I was wondering if there were any b-boys in facepunch. I'm trying to start this but it's really hard. Does being tall affect your baby stand? because I can't hold it now, but I used to get it a year ago. Also, where should I start? I lack the physical strenght for certain things and can't hold a handstand T_T
B-Boy?
When did it stop being called breakdancing?
Anyway, I personally don't, but a guy in my weight training class does. He's really skinny, but incredibly lean, and the things he can do are impressive. He's tried teaching me before, but I can't quite get the hang of it. When I've tried teaching/showing him parkour, he's the same way I am with B-boy. I'm impressed with what he does, he's impressed with what I do, it's a healthy circle.
blood gangsters?
arent you fat?
i mean i dont realyl think fat people um can rock being a bboy

its original name is B-boy, b-boying. The name breakdancing came from the media, who didn't know the name of the dance when it presented, thus, the term breakdancing coming up.
Dance thread.
i know, didn't want to get mixed up with it, but i see it's going to the b.boy side
and people wonder why dancers seem gay

I'm an amateur though, only good enough to entertain the ladies--not enter competitions. Hopefully over the summer I'll get windmills and stuff.
[editline]8th May 2011[/editline]
Some other tips coming from a 1 year "veteran" (I took a hiatus and I'll talk more about that later).
-DON'T TAKE A HIATUS, it will screw you in the future like me. I should be hitting windmills, flares, and advanced freezes after a year. However, because I took a 2 month break I'm learning slowly
-Try to find other breakers, best way to learn and it's way better than going to a class (unless it's from a real breaker). Youtube is an alternative as well, except try to use this in moderation to not "bite" off of the breakers there. I find myself copying Born and Luigi in my toprocks once in a while.
-Relating to the hiatus one, practice often. Create a schedule. I try to practice on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. This gives me enough days to let my body rest and allows me to keep up with homework as well.
-Have fun. It's a dance.
-Once you get the basics, make up your own stuff. It is a dance after all. Play with the music. Although this is coming from a person who is slightly a stylehead as I prefer style over power.
Over summer I'm gonna revitalize my breaking habits. Gonna practice 5 days a week. I look forward to seeing any videos if you post them. I'll probably end up posting one soon anyways.

May I ask, what are the basics of this extremely complicated dance? I don't see where I can start. I'm creating a schedule but I don't know what to do on those days.

Do you just flail your arms for windmills?
Shouldn't you be doing Geometry homework R1Z3?

I'm in AP Calculus BC.
And fuck you, you already got windmills.
Refrain from digression please, I need to learn how to do this dance. Especially this move called windmill that you say I have.
You can do 10 already
I bboy quite a bit, once you get started it becomes something you'll always love to do.

Does that change your impression of him.
No.

Yes
I've always been interesting in b-boys. ever since I saw b-boy float on youtube.

Schoolwork has dragged me down for a while now, but I have a grasp on how to do a few of the basics but I've never gotten around to practicing them...
That's what summer is for.

i'd probably wouldn't have to study lol
But I can't blame school. All I can blame is my lack of initiative and my computer.
I think I should start practicing the 6 step and stuff, get used to some things. I see other people doing the 6 step in really creative ways and they do it really fast
unless you do recommend trying windmills and flares too. I just lack the muscles lol
btw do you start doing these slowly and get used to the motion and then you do these normally or do you just, try to do them head on?
but I think I'll get demotivated after a while. There are no breakers around here. I have a friend who is also trying but hes not in it either so this makes it hard :/

Start with Top Rock, 6 Step, and basic freezes (Baby Freeze and Turtle Freeze). You should also do pushups and sit ups because freezes may hurt your abs if when you stab with your elbow. When you can turtle freeze properly, learn Handglide, then Crickets. Once you can do some of those "power"-ish moves, you can move onto windmills. Flares you're going to have to just build strength and endurance because it's not really a move based off of technique, so I wouldn't recommend learning them yet..
Also try out the handlgide spin after handglide freeze. Power moves will come in the future. Also don't worry about speed.
FOCUS ON FORM at first. Also it is more important to follow the beat: song slows down, you slow down. Song speeds up, go ahead and do six steps at 60 RPM if you want to.
[editline]9th May 2011[/editline]
Toprock

-Stay on your toes, not on your whole foot. Keeps you fast and unsluggish.
-Learn the basics from the video. It may take a while to get it down right. Took me a month to get the basics.
-After the basics, just dance. You know? Play with the music. Use the basics but adapt them to the beat and to your own way of dancing.
-Toprock as well as the other elements are different for EVERYBODY. Only the basic form is the same.
