Yeah, harsh noise. Let's have a debate about whether noise music is music! No, wait, not that. Let's have a thread where we discuss noise music! Yeah, that one.
For people who don't know, noise music is a genre with no defined sound, other than complete atonality and lack of rhythm. Everything is crunchy static noises, squealing feedback, mental-patient screams and generally weird noises that leave you feeling disoriented and without a sense of rhythm. Sounds fun, right? The most famous noise producer is definitely Merzbow, and with good reason. The guy has produced in excess of 300 studio albums. I suppose he has a lot of free time, being a 55 year old vegan animal rights activist and BDSM enthusiast. He's also slightly infamous for the Merzbox, a 50 CD box set with a shirt, a pendant and other such goodies inside. I don't know if I could listen to 50 CDs of Merzbow, but [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_aiuMIC1Hg]as long as one of them isn't Pulse Demon, I might be okay[/url].
Other noise artists include The Gerogerigegege (I don't have the time or mental capacity to list off every zany release of theirs, but luckily [url=http://www.artnotart.com/gero/reviews.html]someone else already did it[/url]. Let's just say that they're a crossdressing masochist and a 55 year old coprophilic male stripper who met at a bondage club and decided to start a noise band. Oh, and the crossdresser is in a mental hospital now.), Masonna (who does sets as long as 30 seconds where he rolls on the ground and screams), and Prurient, who do walls of feedback that make your ears feel violated.

Everyone likes Merzbow's rhythmic works, I don't care for them. Merzbeat is okay, but... meh.

Listen to Merzbow's 1930. If it was too harsh, listen to Merzbeat. If you want more harsh stuff, Pulse Demon. Also check out Masonna's Ejaculation Generator.
