She added that the DOJ has regularly monitored elections since 1965 when the Voting Rights Act, which aims to prevent racial discrimination in voting, was passed. They have added five more states and 16 more districts since the 2012 election. "Our personnel will perform these duties impartially, with one goal in mind: to see to it that every eligible voter can participate in our elections to the full extent that federal law provides," she continued. "We will work tirelessly to ensure that every eligible person that wants to do so is able to cast a ballot.”
The article has a full list of areas where they are deploying monitors. Anyone live in any of them? You'll win a star from me
“Trump said to watch your precincts. I’m going to go, for sure,” a 61-year-old Ohio voter named Steve Webb•told•the•Boston Globe•in October. “I’ll look for … well, it’s called racial profiling. Mexicans. Syrians. People who can’t speak American.” “I’m going to go right up behind them. I’ll do everything legally. I want to see if they are accountable,” he continued. “I’m not going to do anything illegal. I’m going to make them a little bit nervous.”
I hope that with stricter monitoring these people get kicked out the moment they start being obnoxious and creepy.
People who think "American" is a language are like an advanced form of ignorant idiocy.
i prefer the term "Proto-American language"

I'm glad, there were threats from white supremacists groups that they would be patrolling polling places and handing out drugs to minorities specifically in Philly.
People who think "American" is a language are like an advanced form of ignorant idiocy.
From satire to reality. Honestly before this year I've never read/heard anyone unironically use the phrase "Speak American".
From satire to reality. Honestly before this year I've never read/heard anyone unironically use the phrase "Speak American".
The election year just brought them out, they've always existed. There is a large amount of folk around where i live who are literally this stereotype. Another reason why i want to get the fuck out of Nebraska. [editline]7th November 2016[/editline]
:ohno:
one big NOPE to that.
:ohno:
lets be honest, if they were aware that what they said is completely illegal then they probably wouldn't be so gungho to go out and scare minorities

Quincy, MA? What the heck? I wonder what they're afraid of specifically. I'm not familiar with the area.
Benson County, North Dakota; Rolette County, North Dakota; Okay, so why exactly do we need people protecting the Native polling areas?
Benson County, North Dakota; Rolette County, North Dakota; Okay, so why exactly do we need people protecting the Native polling areas?
Because that's exactly where them damn dirty liberals will be bussing in the illegals! It's the last place us good, God-fearing types would expect!
i prefer the term "Proto-American language"
Anglicus Vulgaris also works.
From satire to reality. Honestly before this year I've never read/heard anyone unironically use the phrase "Speak American".
That's pretty common here to differentiate between Brits & Americans. Guess it's different there?
How do any of you even know if this so called "Steve Webb" is a real person and not just made up
From satire to reality. Honestly before this year I've never read/heard anyone unironically use the phrase "Speak American".
You've clearly never visited the Bible Belt. :/ (don't break that streak if you can help it)
