US swimmers Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz were removed from their flight from Rio de Janeiro to the United States by Brazilian authorities, US Olympic Committee spokesman Patrick Sandusky told CNN Sports contributor Christine Brennan. Earlier this week, the two swimmers were with teammates Ryan Lochte and James Feigen, who are wanted for questioning by Brazilian police after questions were raised over their accounts of being robbed.
http://www.cnn.com/2016/08/17/sport/olympics-ryan-lochte-robbery-questions/index.html?adkey=bn While they may have a legitimate claim that lochte lied, I feel this is an over reaching step made by the government.
Man, it's gonna be embarrassing if turns out he made the whole story up. Lochte is a bit of an airhead. He tried to get some reality tv thing going in the past, but think he lacked the ability to create interesting content.
But why?
But why?

the two swimmers were with teammates Ryan Lochte and James Feigen, who are wanted for questioning by Brazilian police after questions were raised over their accounts of being robbed. after Lochte's statement to police, the three other swimmers were asked to present themselves at the police station to give their accounts. So far, only one had done so, she said.
reading is hard
Okay, asshole, to reiterate:
Pressing the quote button is hard
reading is hard
Okay, asshole, to reiterate: But why would they make this story up? (User was banned for this post ("Flaming" - Craptasket))
But why would they make this story up?
Well who knows if they made it up or not. But I was just saying that Lochte doesn't seem to be the brightest bulb (e.g. supposedly man puts gun to your head and you respond "whatever"). With all the reality tv bull and dramatization of non-stories, I wouldn't be shocked if he made this up for some extra publicity. So far his story has a typical meathead jock storyline. Don't you think? Pulled over by fake police, refuse to get on the ground, tell cops/criminals "whatever" when a gun is pointed at his head. Curious to see what happens now.
i mean if youve been supposidly robbed by the police, going to the police would probably seem like a very risky idea and or pointless pulling them from the plane seems a bit much but they probably wont be robbed in that kind of custody
Update. They fabricated the story.
Update. They fabricated the story.
Could you source that please? Because if that's true they're in a whole heap of trouble, and in my opinion they're mega dicks.
Update. They fabricated the story.
If this is true, I wonder what the repercussions will end up being.
And CCTV footage of their return to the athletes' village appears to show the swimmers laughing and joking, and handing over their wallets, phones and accreditation, as they go through the security screens. The judge said they had not show signs of being affected by a robbery.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-37115778 What a crazy twist. Supposedly they broke a bathroom door and used the "fake robbery" story to cover for it.
I just hope Lochte is indeed punished for what he did. I don't think it's unfair to remove Bentz and Conger from their flights when the case is not closed and they were together with Lochte. Guilty until proven innocent I say. No one really knows who did what and who participated in the depredation besides the 4.
Lochte won't be extradited to face any charges. He was smart to get out when he did, but he should've brought the others with him.

Rio police are having a press conference thing. [editline]18th August 2016[/editline] Police: Lochte and friends were beligerantly drunk, broke up the bathroom at a gas station. Off-duty cop/security guard pointed gun at beligerant Lochte. Swimmers paid about 20 USD to fix the damage, left via taxi which is seen on cam Lochte: Lochte and the gang were in a Taxi, got pulled over by fake police and we're held at gunpoint on their knees. Fake cop held gun at Lochte's head when he refused to kneel, Lochte kneels, swimmers hand over their wallets and are releases.

Definitely seeing Lochte and the other swimmers with him in a different light now. Any one have any clue what they would be charged with?
Brazil is not the awful place the whole international media is now making it to be, and this shit surfacing is just another proof of that. a lot of those articles about shit on Brazil are pure bs
There is video that shows the swimmers getting ordered to sit on a curb by the security. So both stories could have a truth to them. Need to remember they were very drunk so details in their story might be inconsistent or embellished. [editline]18th August 2016[/editline] Here's the video that the police showed, though the police didn't show the end where they are directed out of the Taxi and ordered to sit: (Ignore audio) Details from both stories seem true.
Hmm. So what shall become of them.
Hmm. So what shall become of them.
Slap on the wrist from U.S. Olympics organization. Also, I feel vindicated in my guess Lochte was lying~
I don't think Lochte outright lied. His story had inconsistencies but they were very drunk. The fact of the matter is, a man speaking Portuguese, who was an off duty cop working as a security guard, held them at gun point and demanded payment. The video shows Lochte and friends getting out of the car and sitting on the curb with their hands up, corroborating his story. The police conference conveniently left that part of the clip out from the parts of it that I watched. The surveillance video is also cut, I've heard up to three minutes, starting around the time they were ordered out of the vehicle, one athlete with his hands up. I think what happened was this: Lochte and the gang got out to use the bathroom, the bathroom was locked (as reported) and at least one of the athletes (reportedly Lochte) was belligerently drunk. They vandalized the bathroom to some extent which is unknown (allegedly broken door and mirror). The gas station's hired security and employees rushed them out. Lochte and the gang walk up to the wrong taxi, then go to their own taxi (as seen in the video). They are then ordered out of the taxi, and are ordered to sit on the ground. Presumably at gun point (confirmed by police to have happened at one point), where they are held until they pay for the damages. Lochtes story to reporters changed from being pulled over, to being held up at a gas station. Though thats what he said to reporters. We don't know what the athletes said to the police, which the police are accusing them of lying in. That's the important thing. I don't feel like we will ever know what they said to the Police, and we'll have to take the police's word for it. Why Lochte said they got pulled over first, We'll never know. He'll probably say because he was drunk and miss-remembered.
Brazil is not the awful place the whole international media is now making it to be, and this shit surfacing is just another proof of that. a lot of those articles about shit on Brazil are pure bs
Have to agree with you here, this Lochte guy is an ass, at least he needs to apologize to brazilians, and honestly, his versions of the story are weird and keep changing and he was also drunk as fuck, some says that this is enough to not remember anything clearly, I think it's enough to not believe in any of his statements over other witnesses.
So wait what the fuck. So many people are shunning them for lying and many people say they weren't? Which is it?

Lochte and another swimmer tried to run away towards a hospital, but the guard just pointed his gun at both and ordered them to sit so they wouldn't run away, because police was in the way (they never came btw). EDIT: I don't think the four can be charged by lying, but certainly they will be charged for vandalizing a building or something like that.
