actually yes. maybe not with the public outbursts, but a lot of well-to-do girls in asian countries are extremely spoiled culture wise. the idea is a woman's only job is to be beautiful and to have a courteous gentlemanly and rich partner.
obviously, times change, and this isnt as common anymore(especially with immigrant families), but traditionally this isn't all that rare for a guy to be treated like trash
