I don't really care if it's anime or not, but I can understand if someone would be let down by it.
Some people associate music with feelings (I would assume most do), and when you hear a song that is related to something you don't like, you naturally don't like the song.
I think this is the reason for the whole "The song is popular, so it sucks" shit. And I can understand why; a song becomes popular and you don't get the feel that the song is special anymore.
I used to watch anime when I was 12 or something and it was great at the time. I kind of feel nostalgia when I think about the series I watched, but when I watch them nowadays they aren't nearly as awesome as they were back when I was completely different. I guess I didn't realize how cheesy it was for me back then.

"Dango Daikazoku" sure bring a lot of memories from Clannad. Its one of the great theme songs out there.
