[del]Your thread title, and the video title, didn't give my jimmies adequate time to prepare for rustling![/del] Can't believe I agreed with every word up to 3minutes 20seconds..
of her two main criticisms one is the integral part of star wars and the biggest reason it is different from other sci fis the other one about the characters is actually one of the most like-able things about it for example that fucking trope where the characters hate each other first but grow to like each other is so fucking old and played out that when I didn't see it in this one it stood out as one of the best parts of the movie
Next time put up a trigger warning about Anita Sharkisneisn. Nearly got a heart attack here.
So after all the videos she made she's okay with Mary Sue Rey?
Her critique of the film carrying binary exemplifications of good and evil seemed odd to me as I found the performances within those factions to be multi-faceted. Specifically Kylo Ren and Rey. He never seemed absolutely evil and she absolutely good.[sp]Especially in the saber fight scene. At no point did it seem that Kylo had intentions of killing Rey, yet she was absolutely dead set on murdering him. As for Finn's defection, I think she has a point. He never really considers the moral implications of his traitorous behaviour - except maybe in the scene where he confronts Zeros (TR-8R).[/sp]
Did they ever explain how Rey knows how to pilot and maintain the millennium falcon? I might have missed it in the movie.
I was genuinely surprised about how pleasant the review was, I even agreed heavily with a lot of the things she said about morals. I hated how the star wars movies never touched on the potential for a grey area. The closest thing to it was Darth Sidious trying to convince luke/anakin that there is no good and evil and it's only perspective.

Maybe she had a copy of this :v: [t]https://i.imgur.com/zap7Rwg.png[/t]

Kylo Ren was a bad person who was fighting turning good, like how Luke was a good person fighting turning bad.
"The Force" It wasn't explained in the movie, but shes used flight simulators before in expanded material.
Makes sense I guess? I find it odd how they left it out. Because it was the only thing bugging me throughout the movie, was expecting Poe to be the one flying it.
Did they ever explain how Rey knows how to pilot and maintain the millennium falcon? I might have missed it in the movie.
[sp]In her flashback she was left on Jakku with Simon Pegg who owned the Falcon.[/sp] Makes sense to me that at some point she would have been inside it and learned some stuff.
Did they ever explain how Rey knows how to pilot and maintain the millennium falcon? I might have missed it in the movie.
"she's a scavenger so she knows ships and parts" + "the Force" she even exclaims surprise to Finn after they first fly it and says that she didn't even know how she knew yeah, kinda lazy, but i let it slide tbh. i think they were trying to allude to how Luke used the force alone (turned off his targeting computer) to blow up the Death Star and how sometimes you just need to "feel it." kind of a stretch, but whatever
Huh. Im currently wearing the same hoodie as she is
Her review didn't touch on anything different from other critics.
So after all the videos she made she's okay with Mary Sue Rey?
Eh I think Anakin Skywalker in the Prequel trilogy was FAR more a Gary Stu then Rey was a Mary Sue (ex: Anakin somehow built a fully functioning robot as a child and has an unusually high midichlorian count). Not saying Rey doesn't have a few lazily written characteristics though.
she made some good points, but with her previous history and all the shit she's been involved in she still rubs me the wrong way overall it was an ok review, insightful in some things
Her criticisms are pretty weak. Binary oppositions is the ENTIRE point of Star Wars. It's made to reflect the mythology of humanity's past but within space. Even still, they regularly are subverting that structure by showcasing how people are tempted and can be brought each way, or have characters that toe-the-line (Han for instance). TFA's characters did develop a lot of synergy and connection, and the actors did a fantastic job imo. Also its the first movie in a trilogy, it laid and incredible foundation for developments and flexibility utilizing what makes star wars star wars, and keeping that in mind makes these points all very nitpicky.
Isn't she still supposed to be making more Tropes vs. Gaming videos? [sp]Not that I give a shit, but whatever happened to finishing that series? You know, the series you essentially promised people you would finish?[/sp]
One of her critiques was that the movie was "so Star Wars" ...What? It's a Star Wars film, is that not how it should be?
One of her critiques was that the movie was "so Star Wars" ...What? It's a Star Wars film, is that not how it should be?
A lot of the people who disliked the movie seem to share the same opinion. I get that most of them just want to see something new instead of an essentially re-hashed concept, but they have to remember. Last time someone tried that, we got the prequels. Best to play it safe at first than to go crazy and potentially alienate everyone. I'm pretty sure Episode VII was more or less Disney just showing us that they actually can handle making a proper Star Wars film (hit all the right beats and emotions), and Episode VIII is probably where some more risks will be taken. Of course, I could be wrong and VIII could just be a massive re-hash of V, but we'll just have to wait and see.
I wonder if she wears pants in these things.

It's that I heard many feminist pull that Mary Sue card and Anita often labelling stuff Ms Male Character. I'm surprised she actually liked the movie.
[shocking] controversial bullshit kickstarter scammer dares not to criticize a disney movie readily guarded by lawsuits
Why would they sue her for stating her opinion?
