I never understood why every jailbreak method has to have numbers replacing letters.
Took 'em long enough, but as far as i heard the exploits are harder to find by each update.
Took 'em long enough, but as far as i heard the exploits are harder to find by each update.
Nobody expected this one to be released today. They expected it to take far longer.
so this is safe to use?
so this is safe to use?
It's safe to use but if your language is set to Chinese you get a pirate app store
There's a lot of controversy around it for the moment. I recommend staying away from the jailbreak for at least a few days...

Thank god I was waiting for a jailbreak forever but what is with this thing I hear about the chinese app store?
long story short: chinese company paid them assloads of money to release the jailbreak with the chinese pirate appstore if you have your computer language set to china there's no updated mobilesubstrate yet because there wasn't a jailbreak yet
From what I understand this jailbreak is very incomplete. If your phone has been updated to 7.0.4 via an OTA update (without iTunes) the jailbreak will leave your device stuck at the apple boot logo. The jailbreakers were offered money by the pirate app store owners to include the app store in their jailbreak release. Apparently another jailbreak method is very close, so these guys decided to release this incomplete jailbreak asap so they can maximize profits earned from the dodgy pirate store owners. I'm just going by comments I've read, I've seen no real evidence of this.
Thank god I was waiting for a jailbreak forever but what is with this thing I hear about the chinese app store?
You can uninstall the Chinese one and install cydia
Honestly this maybe better than normal iOS 7, considering how bad it is compared to the predecessor.
You can uninstall the Chinese one and install cydia
Saurik has said that Cydia is still a bit wonky on iOS 7 (for obvious reasons, he's been unable to test it), so don't expect things to work. Normally he's quite involved in the whole process, but it seems these guys just pushed this out to be first near enough.
What's so controversial about it?
I looked back through the known info, and perhaps controversy was the wrong word to use on my part. It seems there was less shady activity going on behind the scenes then I had originally thought. There are, however, quite a few bugs that people may want to wait to get patched. Saurik pointed out that this jailbreak was unexpected and he hasn't worked with it, resulting in a lot of incompatible tweaks. Also 5S users wont have working tweaks until he adds arm64 support to MobileSubstrate.
i jailbroke it, but after reading the shit that was going on in reddit and stuff and how it could possibly compromise personal data, i decided to restore maybe i was just paranoid, idk
Lmao just as I got an iPad
So far so good over here. Here and there a cydia app not working but that is obvious.

Another thing, it seems even on non-chinese installation the app appears and on all jailbroken iOS 7 devices, the chinese app continuously sends information to some dead server.
So far so good over here. Here and there a cydia app not working but that is obvious.
I can confirm Cydia is working on my iPhone 4, and my mum's iPad 4 (even though she actually OTA updated from 6.1.3, the jailbreak worked, surprisingly).
Musclenerd said he had a jailbreak but was waiting for the final ios7 release
on all jailbroken iOS 7 devices, the chinese app continuously sends information to some dead server.
To the surprise of no one.
Another thing, it seems even on non-chinese installation the app appears and on all jailbroken iOS 7 devices, the chinese app continuously sends information to some dead server.
Wow that is pretty shady
Wow that is pretty shady
After reading more into the details, it only installs the app if your PC/Mac's language is set to Chinese. I can't find "TaiG" / "Taiji" or any other suspicious apps on my iPhone 4 (been looking through dirs with iFile). Can anyone else confirm otherwise?
There are reportedly still traces of the Chinese files on English installs as well.
Thanks. Is it worth restoring down to a previous version? Can anyone confirm this is actually stealing info / etc from the device? [editline]23rd December 2013[/editline] Reading more, @Pod2G says it's all rumours about the whole "traces of Chinese files" thing, still not sure though. considering that this isn't the usual team of guys and they didn't talk to saurik, and made a deal with chinese app pirates i would suggest not jailbreaking using this method, especially since 7.1 is out in a couple of weeks

This is like using a cheap android tablet... Edit: Done.
