how is it fake? People assumed the wrong thing about it, that's all. It never claimed to be a movie coming soon.

Do you know how the movie industry works?
The director wanted to do a Mortal Kombat film but after the last ones Warner Brothers would never do it. So he made a short film to illustrate his ideas. It's basically a pilot. It got a lot of media attention so it seems likely it shall be coming soon.
Fucking awesome short. I hope it gets made into a movie. It'll definitely be better than the garbage they released way back when.
And Scorpion as the main? Fuck yes, motherfuckers!
might be more effective as a tv series in my opinion.. to get ALL the characters explained... all the background work... AND all the fight scenes?

At this point, it looks more promising than the previous two films.
It got me so fucking hyped up, I don't care if its not the exact same story or continuing from it, it looks fucking awesome.
I believe it's a new slate, 'cause it's evident that Scorpion is still alive.

Although its just a tester trailer, i still reckon the concept was decent - sure its not sticking to the exact routes of the game, but they can't keep everything exact else it will seem like some episode from 1992 seriers of Power Rangers... what with flourescent costumes and stuff :p

the dialogue is really fucking average but I guess it could work because this movie looks like it would successfully bring Mortal Kombat into the new millennium

I edited my post after watching the thing again, it looks like an okay movie but moreso, an effective movie

For $7500, Tancharoen certainly made a good pitch film for WB to see. From what I heard, the only reason it was released to Youtube (which received it first) was because his friends uploaded it without his consent, after he previewed it to them. His use of the harlequinn disease to create Reptile is one thing, but I'm wondering how he'll apply realism to Sub-Zero's freezing people.
From making Britney Spears music videos to making movies, he's certainly doing well.

guess theres not to many original MK fans out there now a days. ive wacthed it three time's all ready i still dont like it. its problem is it's too realistic an explanation for everything i dont like that. i like some unaswered questions

Doesnt necessarily mean its fake :p
It happens all the time. Directors (specially not well known ones) usually pitch an idea to the company thats going to dish out all the money for the movie.
Some pitch it with a presentation, others with script - in this case we have a mini movie. They did one recently with Streetfighter with some english director. Its on youtube, quite recent too.
Notice that Johnny Cage always dies? He died in the beginning of Annihilation, and about 4 times in the game's story line, and in this short film he gets killed.
On another note, Annihilation was sad, it incorporated a lot more of the characters which was nice, but the execution was poor. I loved the first movie though.

You have to consider a couple of things:
1. It flashed on the screen for less than a second, you're not exactly meant to see it in detail.
2. It wasn't supposed to be leaked online so that people could dissect every image, it was only supposed to be seen by some execs.
