South Korea's parliament voted Tuesday to legalize chemical castration as punishment for convicted child sex offenders after a series of violent assaults sparked outrage nationwide.
The bill was first introduced in 2008 in response to a high-profile case in which a 58-year-old man raped and assaulted an 8-year-old girl. The attack caused widespread revulsion and left the victim with lasting physical injuries.
This needs to be used in more states / more countries.
i don't see why not, as he long he's not dead and still piss.
Pretty smart shit. Cut off pedophiles balls then a few decades of jail time then good to go.
For repeat offenders this is definitely necessary.
Depends. In the USA, you're a flagged child molester if you screw a girl thats under 17, even if you're the same age.

I'll be more forward if this was in the case stated in the article.
Why not just shoot them in the head, there worthless pieces of shit anyways.
they should castrate pedos using rusty knives
I am opposed to this as I consider it a from of cruel punishment. Maybe if it was a choice between extended jail time or castration so voluntary action to prevent it resulted in lesser punishments.

because it's inhumane

shooting someone or torturing someone is a cruel punishment.
painless chemical castration for specific people like pedophiles isn't a cruel punishment
Completely reversible too I hear.

You're forcefully making a person impotent for the rest of their life
this is cruel and unusual punishment
regardless if they're Paedophiles or not.

You see, if it's reversible, then maybe I would consider it.
painless chemical castration for specific people like pedophiles isn't a cruel punishment
yes it is

That's more an opinion that changes on a case by case basis, I'm sure a lot more people would consider castration quite cruel.

Sexual assault is 16,000,000 times more inhumane. Why go easy on someone who's being done a great favour by not being deservingly executed?

Because that 1x inhumane is still inhumane, which the justice system should avoid.

cutting thieve's hands off is cruel punishment because they can be rehabbed into not stealing again.
pedophiles are always pedophiles, oh no, they can't get a hardon for 8 year old kids anymore.
*Draconian Punishment Measure That Will Cause A Flame War here*
Sexual assault is 16,000,000 times more inhumane. Why go easy on someone who's being done a great favour by not being deservingly executed?
An eye for an eye isn't really a good policy, harsh punishements are also debatably effective. If it was a choice between extended jail time or voluntary castration then I have no problem, but forced castration is just too much.
Sexual assault is 16,000,000 times more inhumane. Why go easy on someone who's being done a great favour by not being deservingly executed?
so two wrongs make a right?

he supports cruel punishment called capital punishment
i support punishment and rehab called chemical castration, a 58 year old man who assaulted and raped an 8 year old unable to get a boner from watching 8 year old kids won't bother me in my sleep.
As long as they don't go overboard and start castrating a 20 year old for fucking his 17 year old girlfriend. I mean that's probably a bad relationship, but not worthy of castration.
so two wrongs make a right?
In this case, hindering the aggressor incapable of repeating his crime but still permitting him to enjoy his life, yes, absolutely.
cutting thieve's hands off is cruel punishment because they can be rehabbed into not stealing again.

Cruel is not decided by if someone has the posibility of rehabilitation. There is also no evidence that pedophiles cannot be rehabilitated to prevent repeated offenses.
so two wrongs make a right?
If its 16M times more, then I guess they're still wrong.
That guy's balls gettin slayed :smug:
this is wrong :colbert:
An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.
In other words, one inhumane act should not be treated with another.

funny how you're the same person who was against Palestinians having oxygen generators to help people who can't breathe by themselves.
pedophilia is just as curable as homosexuality, it isn't.
they had a choice of not raping an 8 year old, they can't hold their urges.

They are 4 years apart at most, how the fuck is that a bad relationship.
