His and his family's safety and investment. Yeah right. I'm sure without his 1911 a bunch of evil foreigners would have taken over their house and pesessions
Why is that 1911 green

I own a gun because I live in Arizona where javalinas are prevalent and they will chase you down and try to gore you because they're assholes. They're a lot less cute and fuzzy when they're hot on your heels, teeth bared.
You can bet money if one of them are chasing me, a family member, loved one, friend, anyone really and I'm close enough to intervene I will.

The whole point of owning a weapon, and keeping it safe from your children or people who are unable to use it properly is either;
Hunting.
Target shooting.
Professional shooting.
Family/Home defense.
If someone busts into your house with a gun, has the intention to rape your wife, kid, or girlfriend. Whatever. You have nothing to defend yourself with.
I would love, love, love to have a Glock, or one of these weapons to at least defend myself, and my family against scum. Every time I hear "guns are bad!!", I think the persons a tool. The gun itself, carries great meaning. The person behind it, and the way they treat it, can be a bad or good thing. A bad person is going to find any means of destroying/harming a person, with whatever they can find.
At least having a handgun to defend yourself is a viable option.
Holy shit did he put the barrel into his mouth?
What the fuck

the gun was totally unloaded and the barrel wasn't pointing straight at his face. it's just the camera angle.

What? He checked that it was unloaded and blew through it, there's absolutely no issue with that.

Isn't there an unwritten and written rule with guns that basically you should always treat a gun as if it were loaded and only point it at things you want to kill?

Police response times are incredibly slow in America. I listen to the police scanner in my area on the East coast and commonly find myself reporting to crimes quicker than cops do. In one case, I responded to a rape quicker than the police force, who showed up five minutes faster than I did, and managed to scare the attacker off.
The police are severely underfunded in America and in most cases, quite poorly trained, unless you live in a big city, which anyone who lives in the United States understands that the majority of our mass is spread out rural area where the next police department can sometimes be ten miles away.
To answer your sarcasm, actually, some of the worst crime rate is around the border of Texas and in general, anywhere close to Mexico. For all you know, maybe he could be paranoid about defending his house from Mexican cartels. Anyone who has traveled through or near El Paso understands what I'm talking about. If not, you can just listen to the police department there on a radio scanner.
3 assaults, 2 robberies, and a burglary all within five minutes of one-another. I'm damn well sure it's justified to own weapons in the United States just because of these areas in America. On top of that, people don't seem to directly understand that the percentage of poverty in an area directly correlates with the percentage of gun ownership and crime. The more bad people in rough areas, the more good people with more guns, and the less crime.
Until blind outsiders begin to realize this, I can't expect much change on this forum. I'm just sorry our country isn't a land mass the size of the UK with all of our population concentrated in one central area where people are easily controlled and manipulated by the ideals and propaganda of piss poor government fundamentals.

That's a written law to teach people not to be idiots, but if the weapon is unloaded, pointing it at someone that confirmed it was unloaded is not a issue.
ESPECIALLY with a pistol where it's impossible to miss that the slide is in the rear position and the camber is empty.

I agree that there's some fucked up parts of American gun culture, but you are clearly oblivious to the crime rate in the US.
