Basically I want to be referred to a few (or a lot) of new bands. I'm not the most music-broadened person so I often end up listening to the same tracks multiple times a day. My favorite genres are rock, hard rock, metal and easy listening. I like anything from Drowning Pool's "love and war" to Johnny Cash's "hurt." Heck, even Seal's "kiss from a rose."
Nick Drake is some nice chill-out easy music with some nice acoustic guitar. Probably the closest thing in your post to his music is Hurt, although Nick has a softer voice. Listen to the album War is the Answer and the album The Way of the Fist by Five Finger Death Punch. At the moment I'm obsessed with them. They're pretty good. I'm not sure if it's the type of music you're looking for but you can give it a shot.
Check out this artist on Last.fm, he is one of my favorites. http://www.last.fm/music/Flatsound
