All over the country, lawmakers are arguing that vaping should be banned in public areas because they fear it will put people at risk through secondhand exposure. Most recently, Los Angeles joined the campaign to outlaw public vaping, claiming that ecig vapor contains dangerous toxins like lead, nickel, nicotine, and chromium. After doing a little research, we found scientific evidence to refute lawmaker claims. It turns out that the same alleged toxins in secondhand vapor are also found in regular outdoor air and even in human breath.
Lawmakers like to cite studies that identified trace amounts of toxic compounds in e-cig vapor, but more thorough studies have shown that the vapor is not posing any threat at all. For instance, a study by Dr. Igor Burstyn examined more than 9,000 clouds of vapor and found no public threat. While there are trace amounts of chemicals present, they are so minor that it couldn’t harm a bystander.
forgot the source and editing is broken, so here's the snippet
Good source there's no way whatsoever that a magazine solely dedicated to e-cigs and vapes could hold a bias.
I think its quite obvious that the laws are not passed because they are worried for peoples safety, but they have the cock of big tobacco up their arses. I don't expect this to change anything
I don't think they're particularly bad for anyone. I just don't appreciate the gesture in most public places.
The last thing I want is to be standing in like at Wal-Mart with some asshole vaping against my head with whatever disgusting flavored e-cig they're puffing on.
A lot of people use them as excuses to 'smoke' in places that aren't typically accepted for regular smokers like bars and restaurants

Not necessarily true. Most e cig juices are made by small companies. Most big tabacco brands probably view e cigs as a major threat

Thanks for rewording my post chap
"Ecigs confirmed as miracle drug" - Ecig monthly
Gonna need a peer review on that.
I don't see the appeal. I guess I am biased since I don't smoke but there are literally 10-15 different vaping stores within a 5 minute drive from my home.
Don't start smoking any form of nicotine... but if you want to quit, e-cigs are by far the best tactic of them all.

Expanding on this, the studies they cite for this claim say the toxins are found in "trace amounts" but never state how those amounts stack up compared to what's given off by e-cigs, for that claim they rely on a single, separate study that again just says they're found in low amounts.
Someone has no idea how air works.
the only place the metal can come from is the coil, and that probably only puts off extremely low amounts of those toxic materials.

I've read around, and there doesn't seem to be much evidence that it helps you quit.
It's waaaay less harmful, but still.

But big tobacco has spent decades developing ecigs? Ya they do have an interest to shut out everyone else but now theyre walking a very fine line because they want to still make their product accessible but only their product

you can ween yourself off ecigs easily and quit. they offer a wide range of nicotine doses, all the way down to 0 mg

Did you know that regular cigarettes also emit some of the same things found in regular outdoor air and even in human breath!?
I must be a snowflake because I was a smoker for 3 years and quit cold turkey about 3 months ago. No cravings or anything.
I guess part of it is not being a bitch, and controlling my urges.
as one of the thousands of people who have used ecigs to quit smoking, I can confirm, they do work.
Hell of a lot cheaper too and I don't regret a thing. It's been almost three months now (I quit on 7/7/14 because lolol) since I put my ecig away and it's been about eight months since I last smoked a cigarette.

Oh and they're part of the reason why you smoke, just so you don't strangle their stupid necks in their dumb sleep.
You know, as they probably dream about leaving the refrigerator door open and leaving the stove on so the house almost burns down. Again.

Special snowflake who thinks he can control his urges but has smoked for three years. Checks out.

Alcohol can make some crazy shit happen. I happened because of alcohol.

Bananas are radioactive, but that doesn't mean you won't die if you jump into the exploded #4 reactor of Chernobyl's nuclear power plant. Concentration is what matters, you pillocks.
