So where are you guys going? Or are you already attending a college? Or where do you hope to go?
Maybe you just want to go to a trade school. Which one and for what trade?
Or if you are going to a university or community college, what do you plan to major in and what degree do you want?
DISCUSS!
Tis' the season to be receiving acceptance letters!
[sp] not a thread to debate how practical going to college is or whatever major somebody is striving for. People do different things for different reasons, leave it at that [/sp]
I went into my business class today and looked at my email...
"Oregon State University Admissions: We are pleased to inform you..."
I got into Oregon State so far. Beavers. I applied to University of California: Davis, University of Oregon, and University of Washington. Waiting on those still.
I'm not 100% sure about what degree I want but I have some ideas.
hull uni 2012 brap brap
Was accepted to Wheeling Jesuit University last year (got a nice backpack-type-thing and lanyard) but I don't plan on going until I head to a community/tech college for 2 years (private university = insane tuition). My "gap year" time is going to be up soon.. :v:
i got into u illinois urbana champaign and umass amherst
those are the only 2 I heard back from so far
I'll be starting at Florida State University in may (Though I will be in the Panama campus for two years, then go to the main campus in tallahassee).
I'm really afraid of not being able to afford the whole career.
I'm studying graphic design BTW
What are you all studying?
Anyone doing psychology / sociology I hear its the next sector to get jobs in.
Northern Arizona University, majoring in psychology probably

umass amherst is huge and party school. just curious but what is your major?
computer engineering

i live close and I get free tuition to umass
Tech school, the easy way to get a good job.
ASU, major still undecided, but something dealing with computers. ASU does all the stuff online so after I submitted I was checking hourly.
just waiting on georgia state university to accept me~~~
gonna apply to gcsu just in case i guess
I've applied to UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, and UCI and plant to major in Computer Science. Berkeley apparently has one of the best Comp Sci programs in the country, and UCLA and UCSD are pretty good in that respect as well.
I really wish I applied to Berkeley. I think I'd have a good chance at getting in too. I don't remember why I only applied to Davis... I don't feel like I have any "high hopes" schools on my list.
if i don't get into the colleges i want i'm just going to learn ruby and make fat stacks
got accepted to the University at Buffalo today
I'm feelin swag

are you gonna be in allen hall
Already at uni myself. But I've got to go through another application thing again to get my free choice module for next year and I have no fucking idea at all what I want to do.
Any course in the uni (within reason) that happens to take my interest, and I genuinely cannot think of anything. Fuck :v:
Last year I got accepted to Rochester Polytech (RPI), Worcester Polytech (WPI), UMass Amherst, and a couple others I really didn't care about.
Took a year at a community college, kept in contact with WPI. They told me that as long as I get B's or better in math and science courses, I will probably not have a problem being accepted in again. I got all As except for my english class, B-. Going to the community college was a great decision, I think. Saved me a bunch of money, and I don't have to go to classes of 200 students (Calculus, and Physics and such)
I'm waiting on 1 or 2 documents to arrive to them, then they can decide.
Going for Computer Science/Interactive Media and Game Development double major.
I have a cool story about Community Colleges, actually. My sister did terribly in highschool (didn't care/bad time in her life/skipping classes/drugs and all that), and barely graduated. My parents had 0 hopes of her going to college, and just hoped she would stay out of trouble. Two years after highschool, one of her friends decided to take a class at Community college, and she just out of the blue told my parents that she was going to go take a class too. They were thrilled.
Suddenly, she's going to the college full time, and decided that she would get a Mechanical Engineering degree. She was getting all As because she was trying, and kept that up for 2 years. She got an internship at Northeastern, doing some kind of research about lung tissue and cells. She transferred to WPI (Northeastern wanted her, but she wanted to commute, and WPI is closer), and how she is doing amazingly there too. She actually got an internship at Stanford, doing some kind of research on plasma.
Moral of the story: Anybody can go to college and do well if you try hard enough.
Accepted to Shepherd Uni in WV, probably gonna dual major computer science & networking and security. They share a few core classes so my first year I'm gonna figure out if I can manage this but I see it being attainable in 4 years and if I did a super senior thing (5 years) it would be even easier.
Got accepted and am going to Pennsylvania College of Technology for a bachelors in electronics engineering technology. Impressive campus and facilities, I'm heading there on the 19th to take placement exams.
accepted to university of connecticut, university of illinois at urbana-champaign, umass amherst, quinnipiac university, rutgers university and college of the holy cross
going to holy cross next year with like $52k in financial aid out of a $56k annual cost
i come from a household where both of my parents dropped out of high school/community college, so getting into one of the best liberal arts colleges in the us was a big deal for me
this is probably one of the best things to happen in my entire life

why do you get free tuition to umass? also no need to make excuses or anything, i didnt say it was a bad school. my sister goes there and she seems to enjoy it
SUNY Albany and SUNY Geneseo, as well as George Mason University and Lynchburg college, both in Virginia, and Quinnipiac University all accepted me. Only schools I applied to. 5-0 hell yes

Panama City, Florida Campus? Or like, the country Panama? :v:

well its not the best engineering school, and considering i also got into u of illinois it might have sounded a little odd that I also was considering umass
but its because I did well on all of the high school sections of the MCAS and I'm a massachusetts resident
tuition is fairly low at umass anyway, the room and board is what gets you
I got accepted to University of Michigan for the 2012 Fall/2013 Winter year. All I need to do is finish my CSS Profile (CSS Profile is used by certain universities as a organized way to determine where the school should give its merit money)
Attending Eastern Michigan. Not my first choice- first choice is U of Michigan, but I missed the deadline to apply to them when I did. I rather like EMU, so I'm sticking to it, but I'll definitely be doing graduate at UofM if I choose to do so.
